Ellen Thoburn Cowen Memorial Institute of Nursing (ETCM), Kolar was established in 2004. The institution is named in memory of missionary Ellen Thoburn who had been very active in promoting missionary work and bulwark of strength to missionaries in India. The institution is financed by the devoted Christian women of the United States, who are the members of the women's division of the Methodist church in USA. Development of the hospital and the school of nursing engineered by the able, God fearing and loving Medical and Nursing Superintendents, Dr. E. Sheomaker and Miss. Ruby Hobson respectively. They may consider architects of these two Institutions. Being a Christian Institution our motto is Serve one another with Love.
The ETCM School and college of nursing is an educational institution of the Methodist church in India Students come to us from Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Maharastra & Gujarat state. Majority of graduates of institute are serving positions of responsibility all over India, Middle East, Canada, European countries, Malaysia and USA.
Aims of the School :-
ETCM attempts to integrate health service throughout the nursing and midwifery course and thus prepare the nurse for more effective service whether in a hospital or in community.
ETCM aim to provide a programme which will help the nurse to develop into a well rounded person capable of continued growth in her / his personal and professional life.
