Banaras Law School (BLS), Varanasi established in 1923, is one of the top 25 Law Schools in India including National Law Schools. The School is affiliated to the Banaras Hindu University. The innovative scheme of the Law School to reform the legal education was adopted by the Bar Council of India at the national level and brought changes in the pattern of legal education all over the country.
It was established as part of the of Banaras Hindu University as Faculty of Law, later the it was renamed in to Banaras Law School and has constantly played a significant role in revamping the legal education and is ranked within top ten Law Schools in India including National Law Schools.
The Banaras Law School was the first in the country to introduce the class method and the problem method in teaching methodology at both LL.B. and LL.M. levels. The Law School was perhaps the first in the country to prepare case materials for the students of LL.B. The institution is easily accessible by means of public transport available in the holy city of Varanasi. The Banaras Hindu University is one of the most prestigious universities of the Country and is the largest residential university in Asia.
