Faculty of Law, University of Kolkata was established in 1909 and in 1983 it was granted the status as the Department of Law of the University of Kolkata. It has been ranked 21st amongst the top-25 law schools in the country according to latest survey conducted by India Today. The Faculty has six affiliated Law Colleges imparting 5 Years B. A. LL. B. Course.
The department including two other affiliated Law Colleges (Jogesh Chandra Chaudhury Law College and South Calcutta Law College) also imparts B. A. LL. B (Honours) Course. The Department also provides Post-Doctoral research (LL.D.) facilities in appropriate cases.
