Faculty of Law, University of Kolkata was established in 1909 and in 1983 it was granted the status as the Department of Law of the University of Kolkata. It has been ranked 21st amongst the top-25 law schools in the country accordingto latest survey conducted by India Today. The Department of Law of the University of Kolkata is situated at the Hazra campus of the university.
The Faculty has six affiliated Law Colleges imparting 5 Years B. A. LL. B. Course. The department including two other affiliated Law Colleges (Jogesh Chandra Chaudhury Law College and South Calcutta Law College) also imparts B. A. LL. B (Honours) Course.
