Dr. Jagjit Singh devoted his entire life to the service of Student Community and Education and this mission he followed with untiring zeal and total dedication. He inspired a generation of students to develop their full potential. The Institute of Marketing and Management he established, possesses very superior physical infrastructure in a Central locationâamidst, IIFT, IMI, FORE and adjacent to IIT Delhi and Jawahar Lal Nehru University Campuses.
This dynamic hub will now gain additional traction with the coming together of IMM with FOSTIIMA Business School-- an established Institution with its roots under the intellectual tutelage of IIM Ahmedabad.
The Founding Trustees, the Administrators, the Core Faculty, the Curriculum & the pedagogy all have their origins in the Indian Institute of Management at Ahmedabad. Friends of Seventy Three of IIM Ahmedabad is the full form of the acronym FOSTIIMA. Right since its inception in 2007, FOSTIIMA has single-mindedly concentrated on providing Quality Management Education to its students, bench marking IIM Ahmedabad standard of Management Education as its guiding inspiration. Mr. Jaithirth Rao, the Chairman of Sri Balaji HRD Trust and former CEO of CitiBankâs Indian operations visited FOSTIIMA to speak to the students. 13th October 2015 was a lucky day for the students of FOSTIIMA Business School as Mr. Jaithirth Rao popularly known as Jerry Rao addressed BBA and MBA students. He shared his knowledge and experience with the students which he has gained over the years while working in the corporate world in Europe, West Asia, South and North America.
He is an Indian businessman and entrepreneur. He is the founder and former CEO of the software company MphasiS. He is currently the Executive Chairman of Value and Budget Housing Corporation (VBHC), an affordable housing venture which he founded in 2010. He is also a founder and director of Home First Finance Corporation, a Housing Finance company focused on providing housing finance to first time home buyer.
Mr Rao held several positions in Citibank prior to his founding MphasiS in 1998. In a banking career of over 20 years, he served with Citi and its parent Citicorp in various capacities in Asia, Europe, South America, and North America. He was Head of the Development Division of Citicorp and Chairman and CEO of Transaction Technologies Inc.(which employed 300 Doctorates to do research in banking technology), based in LA, California.
During his session he shared some useful and effective tools to get success in corporate world. Here are some of the main highlights of his whole session.
Financial Literacy : Firstly, he advised the MBA 1st year students to focus on accounting knowledge, because learning accounting will help us to make business or personal financial decision, such as a tax payer, an investor or business owner. Accounting knowledge will help us to understand the meaning of the financial information presented to us.
People Skills : Secondly, he told us to put a consistent effort to enhance our communication skills, as it is not an in born quality in any individual but an acquired skill. In organization communication skills play a vital role because it has been observed that the employee with the same level of knowledge as his peers but having better communication skills hold better prospects to get promoted. He further added that we should always maintain good relation with our classmates because in future when we need any opening through our network, they would be the one who will give the best information out of their knowledge. To enhance our writing skills we should communicate with our peers through e-mails. This will inculcate the habit of writing e-mails which in turn will help us in corporate life.
Then he advised the students of 2nd year to concentrate on the following few points:
- Job stability: He suggested that we do not switch jobs frequently; rather we should work for at least 3 years in the organization because frequent changes reflect instability. As a result, company will not hire such an employee to work for their company because the training of the employee incurs huge cost, which would be lost to a rival if s/he switches soon.
- Presentation Skills: Presentation should be precise and to the point. Put your points in bullet form and sentence should not be more than 8 to 9 words, because the focus of the audience will wane.
Never read sentences from the presentation, allow yourself to explain it with real life examples, donât let the presentation to be the master. Never distribute your presentation before meeting because then nobody will concentrate on what you are presenting. They will just turn up the pages and will go through it.
Three things we should keep in mind while giving presentation in an organization
First we should tell what the objective is before showing the presentation.
- During presentation we should again focus on the objective of the presentation.
- At last, while summarizing we should again discuss about the objective of the presentation.
- Team work is very important and therefore all students must increase their people skills and be sociable and pleasant as negotiations are intrinsic to corporate career.
- Sports and extra-curricular activities add character and depth to your personality and to your RESUME. So use your free time constructively at Theatre, Sports, Museums, Site Visits.

Faculty at IFBS

Curriculum at IFBS
Management education at IFBS focuses on learning key business concepts while simultaneously developing analytical skills of students. IFBS course curriculum is contemporary and in tune with the needs of the industry. Accordingly, IFBS curriculum has been designed after taking inputs from eminent academicians, industry experts and leading B-Schools. IFBS maintains close contacts with Corporates through its wide network of pan IIT-IIM Alumni, who occupy leadership positions in prominent Indian and transnational corporations. Many of the students get permanent placement in the corporate where they did their internship. This cell is responsible for exploring the requirements of MNCs and local organizations for arranging campus interviews for placement of students.

Delhi NCR (National Capital Region) is the centre of various transnational corporations using Indian talent for product development, marketing research, customer relationship management, and knowledge processing.

Eligibilty and Admission Process
Applying to IFBS for PGDM
(AICTE Approved 2 Year Full Time Program)
Application Form can be obtained from the Admissions Office at IFBS in person or downloaded from IFBS website: www.ifbs.org.in free of cost. Completed application form should be sent to the Admission Office along with requisite documents and a processing fee of Rs. 950/. The completed application should include:
- Application Form duly filled, in capitals.
- Photocopies of transcripts (Certificates & Mark Sheets at graduations and school level).
- Self attested passport size photographs, one pasted at the designated spot on the form and 2 extra photographs.
- Photocopies of CAT/XAT/ MAT/CMAT/FEAT Score Sheet.
The Application Form can also be filled and submitted online. The accompanying documents listed above and the processing fee of Rs. 950/- in this case can be submitted at the time of Group Discussion and the Personal Interview, if invited for the same.
Complete Application Kit comprising of Prospectus, Information Bulletins & Application Form if desired - can be requisitioned on payment of Rs. 950/- by demand draft in favour of FOSTIIMA Business School or through the Payment Gateway at the FOSTIIMA website.
Post Graduate Program in Management
IFBS's PGDM (AICTE Approved) two years full time program is designed for those who have completed their graduation or an equivalent degree in any discipline recognized by the UGC and eligible for Post Graduate Studies. Students appearing for their final year Degree examination may also apply. Testimonials as proof of graduation have to be furnished at the latest by 30th September.
Admission Process & Cut-offs
Admission to IFBS's two year full time Program PGDM (AICTE Approved) (commencing in the month of June every year) are carried out through a structured process which takes into account the applicant's academic performance in graduation and at school, score in CAT/XAT/MAT/CMAT/FEAT exams and performance in Group Discussion and Personal Interview. Whereas the short-listing and selection is a weighted average of the applicant's overall performance, cut-off levels for admission calls are likely to be above 50% marks in graduation and a CAT or XAT score above 60 percentile.
Admission Criteria: Work Experience
Experience of a supervisory nature is valued highly for admission to IFBS's 'experiential learning' pedagogy. IFBS assesses every applicant's potential to lead effectively. Each candidate's academic abilities, leadership qualities and personal characteristics are carefully evaluated while aiming to create a diverse class with unique track records of leadership, intellectual curiosity, zeal and drive.
Those applicants who have not appeared at any MBA Entrance Exam (CAT / XAT / MAT / CMAT) can appear at IFBS's Eligibility and Aptitude Test or FEAT, a written aptitude test conducted by IFBS, followed by Group Discussion and Personal Interview. The Composite Score arrived at for admission criteria is based on academic and extra mural achievements during the students high school and graduate studies.

Two high speed/broad band internet connections function full time in all the rooms of the campus. Students have free access to the internet, whereby they can keep themselves updated with information from the web world, and download the desired information.
The Institute has a well-equipped computer laboratory boasting of the latest software. The software is provided as per the requirement of the students and faculty. Classes are so scheduled that the students get hundred percent computers' availability in addition to their own laptops.
Quality accommodation is made available to all the outstation students who desire it. This air-conditioned & Wi-Fi enabled accommodation shall provide students with a comfortable and homely environment.
