It is the youngest business school accredited with ‘A’ grade by NAAC, consistently ranked high by various agencies. In the recent B-School surveys during 2012-13, GIM was ranked as top rated private B-School in Andhra Pradesh, 5th best private B-Schools in South India and 29th in All India as per Business World, The Week and Outlook respectively thus maintaining its position in the top league. The core strength of GIM is its experienced faculty, strong alumni network all over the world coupled with industry linkages. GIM contributes to the field of knowledge through publication of GITAM Journal of Management, a quarterly referred journal.

INDUCTION PROGRAMME

The twister, that tries to transform the rudimentary incumbents into enthusiastic budding managers, appraising what to admit and what to achieve during the stay in GIM is all about the orientation program. This is conducted at starting of every academic year.

STUDENT SEMINARS

As part of improving their practical exposure to industry GIM conducts various workshops in all. Industrial exposure is tag line for every Management student to learn.

GITAM Institute of Management is known and celebrated as a B-School where the importance of extracurricular activities can hardly be overemphasized. We believe that we create leaders and leaders have more to them than just academic prowess. The Student Seminar is one such extra curricular activity conducted by the students of GIM which brings out academic, organizational and leadership skills among the students.

The MBA I year students had successfully conducted three student seminars which was organized by the students in totality. Industry personnel were invited as Chief Guests for the three seminars and had paper presentations by the students of GIM. The three topics of the Seminar are:

MANAGEMENT CLUB

The GIM Management Club has been formed with all the students of the Institute to provide a forum to enrich and enhance the knowledge of its members by exposing them to the practical aspects of business by organising Lectures, Seminars and Symposia on Management related topics. The Club organises competitions in Academic, Cultural, Literary, Sports events and awards prizes. The Club also sponsors students to participate in various B-Schools’ competitions held around the country.

LAKSHYA

“Lakshya” (Intra-mural Athletic Competition) is organised every year in connection with the Annual Day Celebrations of the Institute. Track and field events are conducted for individuals and department-wise. The winners get medals and certificates on the Annual Day.

INSTITUTE ANNUAL DAY

GIM celebrates its Annual Day every year in the month Feb’-March. On this day, the Institute magazine “PRAGATHI” is released to showcase the progress of the institute and students for the academic year completed.
GIM instituted several Gold Medals and Prizes for toppers with a view to motivate the students for achieving academic excellence, punctuality in class room attendance, acquire managerial qualities and to attain proficiency in literary, sports and cultural events. Over 200 medals and prizes are given annually on the occasion of Annual Day function.

GITAM MANAGEMENT EXCELLENCE MEET (GEM)

Once in two years, the students of GIM organizes GITAM MANAGEMENT EXCELLENCE MEET(GEM) by inviting students of B-School from around the country. The objective of the meet is to organize an event of this scale which requires excellent managerial skills to make it a success. The students with the help of faculty form committees to carry-out various activities held during three days. The meet is being organized since 1995. Over 500 contestants from over 50 B-school participate in this highly energetic event. Over 2000 students from around Visakhaptnam come to watch the show. This is an excellent opportunity to show case the team working and leadership qualities of students.

YOGA

GIM believes that healthy mind demands healthy body. Ancient Indian culture has so many techniques to improve memory, sound mental and physical health. Today’s competitive environment generates stress and to cope with this stress student need to develop mind control which is possible through meditation. To train the students in the line, the institute organizes Yoga and Meditation classes

The programme of Yoga for the benefit of the students had started as early as in the year 2000. The induction programme in Yoga and Meditation for MHRM, MBA and BBM students were organized by institute of Yoga & Consciousness, Andhra University from the year 2000-01 to 2004-05 in the Seminar Hall of College of Management Studies, GITAM. Ms.J.Rama Devi was the instructor of the yoga programme during that period. The programme was immensely useful to the students.

Placements

Placement Report - 2012 to 2013

Placements at GIM this year have crossed a far reaching milestone, which has catapulted GIM into the highest echelons, amongst the elitist of Business schools in the country.  Trident Hotels of Oberoi Group offered Rs. 12 Lakhs. This is clearly a landmark and has created a history of sorts for this 25 year old institution. LIC housing finance is another such company which have reposed faith once again in our students and our value based education system and has offered the salary package of Rs. 7.5 lacks consecutively for the 2nd year. Another hospitality sector major from the house of Tata’s the Taj group have also reposed faith on GIM students consecutively for second year in a row by taking our students in their procurement function by offering a CTC of Rs. 6.00 Lakhs Per Annum. Coca-cola the refreshing giant have also visited campus and recruited some of students.  GIM have witnessed a barrage of education-innovation and creative service providers making a beeline for recruitments which have resulted in 4 to 5 companies recruiting around 20 of our students. Having crossed these milestones GIM has set a new bench mark for itself in terms of placements. GIM have positioned itself as a preferred choice of destination for talent acquisition and the long list of companies visiting the campus is the testimony to it ever growing popularity among the recruiting fraternity and students seeking admissions. Over the years GIM Media Rankings have improved tremendously.

As on date GIM have achieved near 100 % placement. 180 students have been placed so far and further 5 more companies from various sectors have approached to conduct campus drives. Private sector bank, IT, Cement, Paint and FMCG companies are likely to visit the campus shortly.

GIM's Placement cell is working on a detailed report which will contain certain sun rise sectors and startups companies offering good package apart from the regular companies visiting our campus.  Elaborate arrangements are being made for inviting them to the campus in the near future which will further boost our placements which in turn will benefit the students in the forth coming batches.
