The Garden City Group of Institutions is a one-of-a-kind institution whose imprint in Bangalore was setup in the year 1992.

Our core educational philosophy and collaborative spirit has supported and helped us envision what we set out to seek by nurturing and fueling impressionable young minds to forge ahead, create a fitting roadmap for them and thus carve out an enviable and impressive future.

Therefore in our quest to create a state-of-the-art educational edifice, under the aegis of our Chairman, Dr. Joseph V.G. whose idea synthesis, ideals, positive interventions and belief systems to make a marked change and impact in the educational sphere, gave rise to this emerging, up and coming institution.

We offer under-graduate and graduate level courses. Our major course streams on offer are in the science, commerce, medicine and arts faculties. Further breaking down the genres, we offer specializations in Computer Science, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Tourism, Fashion, Journalism and Media, Management, Business, Nursing and Physiotherapy.

Our institution's outreach is such, that today we have over 5500 students enrolled from around the world and within and our campus resembles a global hub!

Admission Procedure

Please send the duly filled and scanned copy of application form to gcc@gardencitycollege.edu. Alternatively you can send it by Speed Post or Courier to the Administrative Office of GCET, Bangalore.

Enclose copies of all available educational documents, two recent passport size photograph and a bank draft of Rs 25,250/- (for Indian Students) and US $ 525 (for NRI/Foreign students). enrolment fee will be refunded to the students who are not selected for the course.

Those students who wish to have only the Prospectus and Application Form need to remit Rs 250/- (for Indians) and US $ 25 (for NRI's and Foreigners).

Applications of the enrolled students only will be considered for final selection. Actual Application Forms will be sent later to the students who apply for enrolment.

What you need to know the most as a prospective student of GCC

Advance enrolment

Don't wait for the last minute to arrive, to make your career move. To ensure this doesn't happen, you now have the advance enrolment facility to help students avoid disappointments since there are limited number of seats. It is therefore, our fervent advice to all aspiring students, to apply in advance. Students will have to fill in the application form and enclose a photocopy of testimonials as applicable, in Part A or Part B. Now coming to enrolment fee, it depends on the course you take, with advice from our Administrative Office and also as indicated in the fee structure. This fee will be adjusted once the seat is confirmed. Our Administrative Office will notify the same with a provisional admission letter.Students applying for a course in the current session will have to send or hand over in person, the filled Application Form with photocopy of all original testimonials as applicable, in Part A or Part B.

College deposit, uniform charges and hostel deposit will be collected along with the admission amount. The hostel charges the will be collected from the first month of the academic year.

Promotion to the next semester or next year is based on eligibility conditions stipulated in the individual courses by the University: satisfactory attendance, internal assessment marks, student's general report and a no due certificate with regard to fees from the Administrative Office.

Eligibility Regulations

NRI's, Foreign Nationals and Students who have studied in Educational Boards that are not directly under the Association of Indian Universities are supposed to obtain an eligibility / an equivalent certificate from the University. The necessary application form for the same is issued from the Corporate Office of this Institution.

  • Wherever grading system or any other system is followed for evaluating the performance of the candidate in the qualifying examination, the applicant should ensure that a certificate indicating the percentage obtained has to be submitted through the University / Board last studied.
  • Students who are not fulfilling the study of mandatory subjects as mentioned in the prospectus as regulated by the University shall also apply for eligibility / an equivalent certificate from the University.
  • The percentage calculation as per the University is on the total marks obtained in all subjects studied inclusive of languages for MBA / MCA / MTA / M.A - Journalism & Mass Communication / M.Sc Electronic Media and 50% in aggregate for all M.Sc courses in Life Sciences. For certain courses the applicant should have obtained 50% of marks in aggregate in individual subjects also.
  • Applicants for PG courses have to submit a copy of the syllabus studied, scheme of examination and regulation relating to promotion, etc.
  • Applicants for PG courses should produce marks cards issued by the University only and students who are submitting the marks cards issued by the colleges for the I/II year or alternative semesters should produce a letter from the concerned college regarding the details of marks cards issued by the College and the University.
  • Applicants passing GCE / O / A level examination should have passed 4 + 3 or 3 + 2 subjects at the O & A level respectively

Part A - Undergraduate

  • Marks Cards - 10th & 12th Std. issued by the Board / University.

  • Conduct / Character Certificate & Transfer Certificate issued by the School / College last studied.
  • Date of Birth / Age Proof Certificate.
  • Caste Certificate (For those belonging to reserved categories).
  • Ten passport size & ten stamp size photographs.

Part B - Post-graduate

  • Marks Cards - 10th, 12th Std. & Degree (3 years) issued by the Board / University.
  • Migration Certificate issued by the University.
  • Conduct / Character Certificate & Transfer Certificate issued by the College last studied.
  • Provisional Degree Certificate issued by the University.
  • Date of Birth / Age Proof Certificate.
  • Caste Certificate (only for those belonging to reserved categories).

Admission approval from University is initiated only on submission of all the following original certificates:

  • 10th Standard pass marks card issued by SSLC / CBSE / ICSE / the concerned Board.
  • 12th Standard pass Marks Card / Certificate issued by Pre-University / CBSE / ISC / any other concerned Board.
  • Transfer Certificate or School / College Leaving Certificate issued by the institution last studied.
  • Migration Certificate issued by the concerned Board / University.

Infrastructure & Facilities

The Institute has state of the art classrooms and labs for every course. Since all the courses offered are approved by the statutory bodies, the facilities and infrastructure is either at par or way beyond most Institutes in India. All PG Classrooms are air-conditioned and fixed with Audio-Visual aids. Two massive libraries with thousands of books and journals are made available to all students. There are course specific labs including computer labs. The campus is equivalent to a top class resort ambience and is wi-fi enabled. The sports ground is right behind the main campus and there are separate hostels for girls and boys with adequate security.


Garden City College Research & Development Centre

With the birth of the "New Millennium", the age-old adage of "Health is Wealth" has gained tremendous weightage round the globe. With all the Physical, Chemical and Biological Sciences coming together under one big canopy to ensure mankind a better, safer and cleaner environment to live-in Biosciences in particular, has proved to take a lead role in several aspects of "Innovative Healthcare".

Research Areas of the Genetics Department

Karyotyping, C Banding, G Banding and Nor Banding in Grasshopper, Mice and Rats. Studies on Cytogenic Effects of Potential Drugs, Crude Neem Leaf Extract and Anti-biotics on Grasshopper and Drosophila.

Genetic studies on Fresh Water Fish, Cucurbits, Pathogens on Sorghum, and Bacillus Thuringiensis, Argemone Mexicana, Ocimum, Vigna Radiata and Molecular studies on Rotavirus.

Research Areas of the Biotechnology Department

  • Screening for petro-chemical degrading bacteria
  • Screening of antimicrobial compounds from medicinal plants
  • Microbial diversity of food samples
  • Isolation of dye degrading fungi
  • Isolation & Characterization of enzymes from plant and microbial sources for biomedical applications.
  • Synthesis of cellulose nanofibers.

Research Areas of the Microbiology Department

The focus has been on:

  • Antimicrobial Properties of several plants such as Ocimum, Leucas, Anthrax and various Blood Borne Diseases.
  • Antimicrobial activity of cereal sprouts was studied.
  • Antimicrobial action of Medicinal Plants over the Pathogenic Bacterial Flora of the Upper Respiratory Track was studied.
  • Antimicrobial effect and the medicinal uses of cow urine were studied.
  • Analysis of water borne microbes
  • Antimicrobial activity of nanoparticles
  • Microbial diversity of food microbes

Research Areas of the Biochemistry Department

  • Biochemical studies on several medicinal Plants such as Alternanthera sessilis, Cissusquadrangularis and Gossypium were studied.
  • Inhibition of snake venom by Vitisviniferaseed was studied.
  • Inhibition of Snake Venom by Vitis Vinifera Seed was studied.
  • Isolation of proteases from Bacillus and Pseudomonasspecies were studied.
