About Glyndwr University University

Glyndwr University is based in Wrexham with campuses and facilities around North East Wales. has educational roots going back to 1887, we have a long history of providing higher education in the region, with prestigious new centres having launched in 2011 we have our sights firmly set on the future.

Our courses are tailored to be relevant to industry and professional applications. We work closely with partners in business including Airbus, the BBC and Active Childcare to ensure our graduates get the skills they need to gain employment.

2010 saw the launch of the Advanced Composite Training and Development Centre, the result of a groundbreaking partnership between the University, Airbus, Deeside College and the Welsh Government. The centre is a prime example of how our partnership approach keeps us at the forefront of advances in technology and skills in key industry sectors.

Wrexham itself is a vibrant, growing town in an enviable location. It's within easy reach of major cities such as Liverpool and Manchester, while also standing at the gateway to the stunning mountains and seascapes of North Wales.

Our International Welfare team is there to meet you when you arrive. Helping you to enjoy your time at Glyndwr University from the very beginning. Our welfare team delivers a personal experience, and a place to go for assistance throughout your time at university. It is incredibly important to us that you enjoy your time at Glyndwr University our welfare team will endeavor to make that happen.

Among the services we offer to international students is our Manchester airport ‘Meet and Greet' service. Our welfare team along with a team of student ambassadors will meet you at the airport and transfer you and your luggage to Glyndwr University. This service is offered completely free of charge

We also offer a special induction week to help you settle into university.

We also have a comprehensive tuition fee/accommodation package for international students, one of the most financially rewarding in the UK, and a 5% discount in fees if all tuition fees are paid before enrolment.

Student Facilities

Glyndwr University is one of the fastest-growing universities in the UK.

Spanning the diverse and dynamic North East Wales region, the university has developed an enviable range of facilities which are used by students, industrial partners and the public.

Plas Coch Campus, on Mold Road in Wrexham is the larger of the university's two sites in the town and houses a wide range of the university's courses, as well as facilities including the Centre for the Creative Industries (pictured above), Centre for the Child, Family and Society and Glyndwr University Racecourse Stadium. The North Wales School of Art & Design is based at Regent Street, just a ten minute walk away in the direction of the vibrant town centre.

Between the two sites lies Wrexham General railway station, and the bus station is located in the town centre, just five minutes' walk from Regent Street.

Glyndwr University also has high quality facilities for land-based learning at its campus Northop, Flintshire, while elsewhere in the county the Advanced Composite Training and Development Centre at Airbus is the result of a groundbreaking partnership between Glyndwr University, Airbus, Deeside College and the Welsh Government.

At St Asaph the university has OpTIC Glyndwr, a leading centre for the research and development of cutting-edge opto-electronics technology

Our second language centre will provide you with the means to pursue your chosen academic path. We are involved in research projects from small scale, such as helping local businesses in solving issues, to very large scale, such as helping develop advanced optical technologies for the world’s largest astronomical telescope, to be built at the European Southern Observatory. The emphasis is always on problem-solving and using our latest ideas and state-of-the-art technical know-how, some of which was recognised as “world leading” in the last Research Assessment Exercise.

The research activities of the university are coordinated through our research centres. Research students belong to and are supported by our Graduate School. We also participate in GuildHE’s CREST Initiative  through which we collaborate on research support and training with other institutions.

We have a series of regular open Professorial Lectures where our experts give talks to the public on their latest ideas and thinking, and research centres also run seminar programmes.
