Gaur Brahman College of Education, Chandigarh was established in 1954 previously known as Government Post-Graduate Basic Training College under a special scheme of Government of India in the Second Five-Year Plan for establishment of training colleges for teachers at the post-graduate level. The College has great tradition of high achievements in the field of teacher education and ranks among the leading colleges of education in the country. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has accredited Grade A to the College.
