The Government College of Engineering, Pune is located in Maharashtra (Pune). Pune is known as the historically educational and cultural capital of Maharashtra. The Govt. College of Engineering, Pune is one of the premier educational institutions of the country today. Established in the year 1854, it is a very well known and highly reputed institute for engineering education.

The Government College of Engineering Pune came into being in the year 1854 and is one of the oldest and well known engineering institutions. Initially it was known as the Poona Engineering class and Mechanical school and was basically used to train subordinate officers for carrying out public work. But, later on the school became Poona Civil Engineering College and finally in the year 1911, the name was changed to the present Government College of Engineering, Pune.
