MBA Admission Schedule & Procedure
ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION
- Educational background
Applicants to the MBA Program must possess a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent, with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks or equivalent in any discipline. The Bachelorâs Degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the candidate must entail a minimum of three years education after completing higher secondary schooling under the 10+2 system or equivalent. Candidates appearing in the final year of their Bachelor's Degree or equivalent are also eligible, provided they furnish the proof of having met the minimum eligibility criteria by July 10, 2014.

Applicants may be from any discipline such as Engineering, Humanities, Commerce, and Economics, Medicine or any other branch of education. Candidates with relevant work experience as also fresh graduates awaiting results are welcome to apply.

- Admission Test
Admission is through HBSAT-2014. Candidates with valid MAT/GMAT/CAT-2013 scores are exempted from HBSAT-2014. An entrance test conducted by Hyderabad Business School, HBSAT 2014 is compulsory for those applicants who have not taken any of the other valid tests and is optional for those who already possess any of the above scores. Foreign students and NRI sponsored candidates are also eligible and are required to take the GMAT at a test centre outside India, not earlier than November 2011, and submit such scores while applying to HBS. It may be noted that HBS uses CAT scores only for screening applications for admission and IIMs have no role in the conduct of Hyderabad Business School academic programme.
- Selection process
Candidates who have appeared for HBSAT 2014 or furnished valid CAT/MAT/GMAT score and have applied to HBS will be shortlisted on the basis of information provided in the application form, HBSAT 2014 /CAT-2013 /MAT/GMAT score, educational background, marks in 10th, 12th, graduation and work experience. Only short listed candidates will be called for the final stage of the selection process. Group discussion, personal interview besides other qualitative parameters will constitute the core components of the final stage of the selection process. The objective is to assess the candidate's potential for a managerial career.
- Test Centers (Group Discussion and Personal Interview)
Besides Hyderabad, the selection process is normally conducted at other centers including Bhubaneswar, Bellary, Bengaluru, Chennai, Coimbatore, Gulbarga, Kozhikode, Patna, Guwahati, Jamshedpur, Raipur, Kolkata, Kathmandu, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Jalpaiguri, Pune, Trivandrum, Tirupati, Vijayawada, Rajahmundry, Visakhapatnam & Warangal. Candidates should indicate their preferred center(s) for interview in the application form. If a candidate's preferred centre is not allotted, for any reason, the candidate will be informed of the change. HBS reserves the right to change any of the centers for the selection process, without assigning any reasons.
- Admission Offer
A list of successful candidates will be announced on HBS's website and offer letters will thereafter be dispatched. Successful candidates will have to pay the 1st installment of fee within two weeks of the date of offer, failing which the offer shall stand lapsed and admission offered to the next candidate on the waiting list, without any further intimation.
- Mode of Payment
All the payments have to be made on or before the date mentioned. The fee can either be paid through RTGS (Real Time Gross Settlement) or in the form of a DD / Pay Order drawn in favor of "Hyderabad Business School, GITAM University" payable at "Hyderabad".
Totally pollution free, the campus boasts of tree-lined walk-ways, spacious lawns and playing fields, a well designed amphitheater, well-equipped air-conditioned classrooms and offices. The world-class infrastructure includes a modern auditorium, a well stocked library and computer centre, executive dining hall/mess, canteen, banking and postal services.

- IT Infrastructure
HBS has been networked for total connectivity. The campus has got fully operational high speed Wi-Fi 24X7 1000 mbps Internet Connectivity. This facility rates among the best of B-Schools in the country. The facility helps students to interact online and view all the information online like grades, attendance, etc. Students can also download the handouts, lecture notes, power point presentations given by the faculty. Each classroom has been equipped with LCDs and OHPs for effective learning sessions. All the systems are backed up for power through on-line UPS. The students and faculty at GHBS are provided with modern computing facilities.
The school is equipped with air conditioned computer labs with latest state of the art software and hardware. The lab remains open for the students during college hours. All the computers are loaded with original Windows operating systems. There are 24 legal application software and 14 legal system software installed in all the computers as well as the labs. At HBS we feel the need to improve the communication and student âteacher interaction on teaching and learning front. To facilitate this one of the labs is furnished with Clarity English Communication Software.
The tranquil residential facility to the boys and girls in the campus is highly conducive for research and studies. The rooms in the hostel are fully furnished with all the modern amenities. It is a home away from home to all the students. All the hostels have 24 Hr Power and Water supply. Hostels are surrounded by green open space which gives lots of oxygen rich air and a natural environment away from city hustle and bustle. The registration for hostel is done on first-come-first serve basis.
Library & Information center is a backbone of academic and research activities of the institute and has been catering to the information needs of the faculty members, students, and staff and research scholars. The library is well connected on internet to facilitate access to online national and international journals, magazines, reports and projects.
HBS has an air conditioned library centre with a large number of books along with a number of Indian, foreign journals and extensive collection of reports and projects. The library information system which operates through OPAC contains a record of all books and journals. It has online subscriptions to various journal resources. These resources are available to students and faculty for research and course work. The library also subscribes to compendiums, directories, Year Books and CD-ROMS. Digital resources on many subjects are made accessible through Libsys Software in the Library.

HBS Collaborates with LemonBridge Research Innovations(P) Ltd.
HBS in collaboration with LemonBridge Research Innovations(P) Ltd. introduced a high impact innovative pedagogical framework modeled by the later and is implemented by HBS for MBA Class of 2015.
HBS launched this innovative pedagogy to encourage students to be effective managers by studying and performing analysis of various industrial sectors breadth and depth wise. The students were divided into eight teams, each comprising five students, with a team lead. Each team has been randomly assigned an industry that they are to keep a track of on a daily basis for the next two years.
The following sectors are assigned: FMCG, Entertainment and Media, Social Media, Hospitality and Leisure, Automotive, Banking and Insurance, Information Technology, and Telecom and Communications. Again, each member of the team would study a company within the sector and track the news regarding the company. Every team and every team member has to maintain a scrap book and record/copy paste/note/re-articulate his/her industry/companyâs developments as available in newspapers/business magazines/social media sites on a daily basis.
The teams, each mentored and provided inputs and advice by a different faculty member, will make presentations on their study and findings from time to time according to a well structured schedule. Teams present their work in intervals of eight working days. Every team will have to make a coherent presentation on such developments on the 8th working day.
This pedagogical tool is meant to complement and enhance the value of day-to-day classroom teaching would be made in person.
