About The Institute (Indira Institute Of Management, Pune)
The Shree Chanakya Education Society (SCES) was established in February 1994, under the visionary leadership of Dr. Tarita Shankar, with the aim of providing top quality post-graduate education in the fields of Business Management, International Business and Information Technology. At a time when India was struggling to put its economy back on its feet, after the nation having pawned the "family jewels" just to keep afloat, Dr. Tarita Shankar sensed that education too would have to become more broad based and more vocational in nature if India was to stand up to the world competition in quality and price for its products, as indeed the then Finance Minister had prescribed for the economy and so, in 1994, began a saga of growth and quality in education; a story that is just reaching its zenith with 14 full fledged Institutes registering a strong presence on Pune's educational horizon. Since inception, the Institutes managed by SCES, have maintained high academic standards and have successfully provided trained manpower to the industrial and services sector of the country. With a modest strength of 60 students pursuing a single course, SCES has grown steadily and today boasts of 14 Institutes, having more than 8000 students from all over India pursuing multi-disciplinary, graduate & post-graduate programmes. The objective of the institute is providing 'Management education in a corporate environment', has been possible due to the sincere and dedicated efforts of the members of SCES, who have invaluable experience in varied areas like academics, industry, service and social-world.

IIMP aims to nurture and empower its future managers with domain knowledge, by sharpening their soft skills to meet the ever changing needs of modern globalized business. For imparting such skills to its students ISBS has formed an alliance with Indian School of Integrated Learning (ISIL) which functions in India in collaboration with Speak First, UK. Speak First of UK is a Leading Training Institute with global existence and delivery of training programs in diverse geographies. The programs administered by ISIL are a rigorous blend of behavioral, aptitude and attitude development initiatives. The trainers are certified by Speak First, UK. The complete initiative is driven through a process of Standardization and Validation Methodology.
Programmes are process driven with content standardization, validation of execution and appropriate trainer selection as per the relevant skills and accreditation. Only highly experienced professionals and behavioural specialist trainers conduct the programs.
Out Door Management Training (OMT):
OMT is a unique Training program designed for the students of Indira wherein the focus shifts from the classroom to Mother Nature, who is a master teacher herself. OMT aims to build one's leadership skills, teamwork abilities, decision making skills, crisis management skills. It promotes the holistic development of the student through a series of adventure and outdoor experiences like trekking, rappelling, rock-climbing, canoeing, while living-off the land. Today OMT is widely recognized by the corporate sector as an effective training technique for developing the personality of their executives. Indira has introduced this programme with a view to provide an edge to its students.
Management is all about exposure and experience. To give unique international business exposure to students, IIMP organized a 5 days Industrial tour to Singapore starting with PGDM 11-13 batch. The batch of PGDM 12-14 is slated to visit the U.A.E. in February 2013. This will enable the students to appreciate the successful innovations & technology adoptions that other countries have undertaken in the business and cultural spheres.
INDIRA firmly believes in molding the future Managers by providing personal guidance in their development. Towards this end, a Mentoring program has been institutionalized to counsel them on the key attributes that they need to focus on, to become effective managers and future leaders. The program also covers issues connected with the recruitment and selection process of Managers and how the students can confidently face such processes.
We at INDIRA strongly believe that the efficiency and effectiveness of individuals is directly related to the mental and physical health of an individual. In order to inculcate these qualities in our students, we have introduced a fitness program comprising of gym, yoga and aerobics. Students joining INDIRA compulsorily attend fitness classes.
