The International Institute of Information Technology (formerly Indian Institute of Information Technology), Hyderabad, India is an autonomous, self-supporting institution started in 1998 with seed support from the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The goals of the institute include imparting a uniquely broad and interdisciplinary IT education of the highest academic quality to its students as well as to produce technologies and algorithms that will impact the field in fundamental ways.
One component of this is an integrated curriculum that consists of a highly diverse set of courses, day-to-day interaction with industry, preparation in entrepreneurship, and personality development courses. Another component is the establishment of research centers focused on problem areas to promote research and technology creation at the forefront of its focus areas. FacilitiesSpread over 62 acres, the Institute is fully
residential. There are 4 buildings that include corporate schools and
research centers. The academic building has lecture halls, tutorial
rooms, computer and electronics labs and offices of the administration
and faculty. The computer laboratories in the institute are laced with
high-tech software and hardware facilities and is complete
air-conditioned. Research students can access computer and Internet facilities 24/7. The entire campus has wireless connectivity. Students are availed individual rooms in hostel. The institute has one fully air-conditioned guest house with four suites. There are two men hostels and one women hostel comprising 1200 rooms. B. Tech in Computer Science & Engineering The CSE curriculum of the Institute is designed to meet the requirements of industry and research. Students are given a breadth of knowledge in CSE including electronics and hardware. Computer Science courses are introduced in the early semesters and non-IT breadth courses are offered at a later stage. This allows student to master the topic and to do project work starting from the second year itself. Specially designed IT Workshop courses empower the students with the latest software technologies by third semester B. Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering An integral part of the Information Technology is Electronics and Communications. Keeping this in mind, our undergraduate programme in ECE is closely related to CSE. They share a large number of core and elective courses. Today's hardware engineers have to understand not just circuits but also programming. Electronic systems of today combine circuits with programming. The integrated training given at the Institute prepares the students for the emerging challenges of tomorrow. Emphasis is on doing real hardware projects starting early in the programme. Students build hardware units and systems, along with learning the theoretical basis behind it.
