Invertis University, Bareilly was established in 1998. The rise from a modest 83 students to over 2000 students in 2007, has helped Invertis to be recognized as a hub of higher education in the region of Rohilkhand in Uttar Pradesh. The Institute has two postgraduate programmes - MBA & MCA and two undergraduate programmes - BBA and BCA. The year 2005 saw the addition of Invertis Institute of Engineering and Technology to the Invertis Group. Four undergraduate programmes are offered at the IIET-B.Tech.(IT). B.Tech.(CS), B.Tech.(EC)., and B.Tech.(EI).
The Institute was rated as an A+ B-School in the B-School survey conducted by Business India in 2008 while it was rated first in the Rohilkhand Reion by "Indian Management Maagazine" the well-known Management Magazine in its December 2003, September 2004 and September 2005 issues. The rating was based on five counts namely Intellectual Capital, Admissions and Placements, Infrastructure, Industry Interface and Governance. The status of the University with regard to the inspection by UGC is Committee constituted.

The sprawling campus located at Bareilly -Lucknow National Highway -24 covers over an area of over 50 acres. Housed amidst lush green surroundings , its architecture combines beauty with utilitarianism. The campus includes an Administrative Block, Teaching Block, a Library, a Computer Lab, Language Lab, separate dinning halls for boys and girls and three Hostels. It also has a Multipurpose Hall to accommodate around 1500 persons , at a time, which is used to conduct Seminars, Debates, Annual functions etc. All beautifully merged to present a breathtaking view of the institute. Each classroom is fitted with the latest audio-visual gizmos like the Multimedia LCD Projector (Mitsubishi – LVP-X80U) , OHP's TV and VCR.

Invertis has the Corporate Resource Centre headed by a professional who is assisted by dedicated officers to liaison with Industries and HRD Managers.
