Isabella Thoburn College, Lucknow was established in 1886. The college is also known as IT College. The College is the outcome of the dedication, struggles and initiatives of Isabella Thoburn, an American Missionary who was among the first missionaries sponsored by the Women’s Society of the Methodist Episcopal Church to India. The objective of the college is to Increase awareness towards national and global social concerns and to promote skill oriented programs.
The purpose of Isabella Thoburn College is to provide higher education, primarily to Christian women, which will include the imparting of sound learning, the building of character and the inculcation of spiritual truth and knowledge of God as revealed in Jesus Christ, to present to these young women the message of Jesus Christ through regular Bible Study, Christian testimony and example, witness and worship in accordance with Christian belief and doctrines and to extend the facilities and opportunities to young women of other faiths and communities who voluntarily wish to receive education in a Christian environment. The Isabella Thoburn College Society provides education at the Intermediate, Undergraduate and Post Graduate level in Arts, Science and Education.

The career counseling centre is an expression of the strongly felt need of the students of Isabella Thoburn College.The career counseling and guidance centre is sponsored by the United Board of Christian Higher Education. It seeks to empower young women by opening an avenue of information on job resources and opportunities available for women.
