Mary Matha College of Arts & Science, Periyakulam established in 1994, was previously known as Jayaraj Chelladurai College Jayaraj Chelladurai College, is now run by "Bodhi Niketan Trust", formed by the members of St. Joseph Province of the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), the first indigenous religious congregation in India. The CMI congregation with a membership of 3000, renders its services to the humanity in educational, social, healthcare and other activities aiming the prosperity and well-being of the society.
