Kakatiya University (KU), Warangal was established in 1976. The University has a network of eleven constituent colleges with 24 Departments. During 2004-2005, the total enrollment of students for under-graduate programmes was around 90,000, while it was 6,500 for the post-graduate courses. About 175 research scholars are registered for Ph.D. programmes in different faculties.
The Kakatiya University is now offering programmes in Engineering, Pharmacy, Law, M.C.A., M.B.A, Education, Science, Arts, Commerce. First time in AP, PG courses in Science for inservice teachers and government employees, M.L.I.Sc and MCJ, Diploma in Mimicry, Certificate Course in Communication Skills in English, M.Sc. (Environmental Science) and M.Sc.(Psychology) have been introduced recently.

Following are the entrance exams that are accepted by Kakatiya University, Warangal -
ICET is an Integrated Common Entrance Test (ICET) for admission into MBA and MCA courses of all universities in A.P and their affiliated colleges. This test is being conducted by Kakatiya University, Warangal second time on behalf of Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education, Hyderabad.
KUCET is the common entrance examination conducted by the University for Admission to various postgraduate courses offered by the university and its affiliated colleges.
Placement Cell at Kakatiya University -
There is a separate placement cell established in the University to guide the students for employment opportunities. It also invites organizations for conducting campus selections circulating the profile of students on various fields.
