Could you briefly tell us about the MIT college of Management?
 
  • MIT College of Management was established in 2007 under the name of MAEER's MIT Group of Institutions with a view to impart value based education in this new age fields of management sciences. MITCOM aims at providing the corporate sector, professionally sound, sophisticated and dynamic leaders with a vision and endeavor to meet the challenges of the new millennium.
  • The rapid growth of the businesses in the emerging areas such as retail and agriculture gained the attention and inspired us to match up with the industry requirements.
 
What is your Faculty Strength?
 
In addition to the Internal Faculty, we have a network with 130 faculty members belonging to different National and International Institutes. These faculty members join us as visiting faculty at times or appear as Guest Faculty at varied occasions
 
What is the cut-off (in relevant entrance exams) for candidates to be called for a GD and PI.

Is there any sector or function specific focus while targeting companies for placements?
 
Yes, we always put endeavours to get the companies of different domains so that students after obtaining the conceptual knowledge can now understand practical applicability of the same. We have companies coming in and offering profiles related to Retail, Marketing, Finance, HR, Agriculture etc. The job opportunities in different profiles are dependent on the sectors performance so obviously the number at times increases and at times decreases too
 
Do you foresee any difficulty in placing students taking into account the current market climate?
 
Placements of any institute are very much dependent on the market scenario. So definite we here in MITCOM also face problem if the scenario is unfavourable. However we have managed to develop a good network with corporate in so many years and thus mostly we are able to place majority of the students every year. In unfavourable scenario we may not necessarily stick with the focus of getting companies from the varied domains. But keep observing where the opportunity lies…
 
Does MITCOM facilitate Internship for students during the course of the program? If yes, explain
 
One of the major objectives of Summer Internship Projects is to enable students to transfer their knowledge gained in classrooms to the workplace as well as to familiarize students with the complexities of the corporate world first hand. The process for pursuing summer internship which is to be undertaken at the end of the first year is more or less identical to the final placement process. Apart from availing of the opportunities to do internship in companies through the campus process, students also have the freedom to choose companies on their own. The Placement Team ensures that every student will have a Summer Internship opportunity in his/her chosen stream of specialization. The prescribed Summer Internship period is six to eight weeks from mid – May to mid - July every year.
 
What is the placement record like? How many companies do you have on your placement list and how many new companies do you get every year?
 
We have a database of almost 600 companies and have been successful in maintaining relationships with them
Every year 260 to 280 companies are offering final placements as well as summer internship.
18 to 20 companies get introduced each year.
 
How many students were placed this year and what were the sectors they were placed in
 
  • Every year we manage to achieve about 90% to 95% placements. This year uptill now we have achieved 70% placements and the process is still on..

FDI in retail is likely to create as many as 10 million job opportunities in a span of 10 years, there by limiting into a largest organized employment sector, says a report. A recent joint report by Ficci and TCS titled 'Driving Consumption through Integrated Multi-Channel Retailing' says that the retail industry is poised to become a 1.3 trillion opportunity by 2020, driven largely by modern trade. The estimated value of the retail sector at the present juncture is about 500 billion.
