Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad (MICA),is India's premier communications management school,established in 1991. MICA is one of the most sought after Communication Management schools in the country and offers education to cater to various sectors. MICAWelcome to MICA

It has been 21 years since MICA came into being. In its relatively young history,it has helped produce and nurture great students,many who currently hold senior leadership positions within and without the communications industry. In this short period MICA has grown from having less than 50 postgraduate students to having over 300 students. Today, MICA is one of the most dynamic and academically engaging communications management schools in India. As the new President and Director of MICA, I am excited and enthusiastic to be part of this great journey.

What makes MICA unique? First, we are a niche communications management institute that creates managers and leaders for the media and communications industries. Second, most business school curriculum focuses primarily on the intelligence quotient and sharpening only the left side of the brain. The outstanding global leaders of today have an equally strong emotional and cultural quotient. MICA's curriculum creates such students - those who focus on multiple bottom - lines with equal emphasis on financial, human and environmental implications. We are not like the mainstream business schools - we are a school with an edge - the MICAN - edge.

Over the years, MICA has evolved and expanded from what it was years back. But, its mission remains steadfastly the same - which is "To be a global leader in researching,educating, developing and practicing the art & science of communication for the betterment of humanity".

Our students are unique - they seek collaboration to address competition; they are equally strong in the analytical and creative aspects of any situation. Our 2012 PGDMC graduates got placed in a diverse group of top companies. We encourage our students to think 'out-of-the-box', to communicate creatively and to show a healthy respect and concern for the ecology and environment. We believe that our students are our true ambassadors and we encourage them to use the communication expertise and research knowledge that they possess and have honed at MICA for the betterment of society and mankind.

We do not, however, believe in resting on our hard-earned laurels and past glories. We continue to hire permanent faculty with strong research and teaching skills. We continue to invite 'visiting faculty', who have experienced the lived reality of concepts they teach. This is the chief reason, why MICA is forever striving and always passionate about delivering world-class research and teaching. We do not wish to follow; We wish to lead. It's a constant and ceaseless endeavour and in this, all MICANs are involved - in body, heart and soul.

Admission Procedure

For the batch of 2014-16 the admission process consists of two stages :

Stage I: The MICAT stage: Students who have appeared for any of the following exams- CAT 2013, XAT (2013, 2014), GMAT (2010 onwards), ATMA 2013 (Feb, May, July), CMAT (Sept 2013), MAT (Feb, May, Sept, Dec 2013), will be allowed to take MICAT 2014

Stage II: The GE/PI stage: On the basis of their performance in the MICAT only, students will be shortlisted to appear for the Group Exercise and Personal Interview stage (held in the MICA campus)

Aspirants with a Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent qualification recognized by the Association of Indian Universities), who have appeared in CAT 2013/XAT2013/XAT 2014/ MAT 2013(Feb/May/Sept/Dec) /CMAT 2013 (Sept)/ATMA 2013 (Feb/May/July)/GMAT (2010 onwards), irrespective of their scores are eligible to apply and appear in MICA's Admissions Test : MICAT 2014.

Candidates will be shortlisted for Group Exercise & Personal Interview on campus, solely based on their performance in MICAT. The exam will be held at 12 centres, across India in end-Feb/March 2014. The MICAT centres are: Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Jaipur, Jammu, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow and Mumbai.

MICAT is a validated, multi-dimensional examination which assesses a candidate in areas that are crucial and relevant to a career in Communications Management, such as:

  • Divergent thinking abilities
  • Written Communication abilities
  • General awareness about contemporary social and industry issues, including areas around media, marketing, advertising and business
  • Analytical and verbal abilities
  • Psychometric profiling to assess the fit of the aspirant to career in areas of communication management

The campus boasts of a Knowledge and Exchange Information Centre (open 24x7) which provides 360 degree support for advertising, media, marketing and communication domains. MICA also has a fully equipped Mac Lab, Community Radio station, Media Lab and VC room. The Seminar halls and auditoriums provide a conducive learning environment. For recreation we have the badminton, tennis and basketball courts, football and cricket fields and a community center with facilities for Table Tennis, chess, carrom and snooker. Also, to never miss out on anything, our entire campus is wi-fi enabled and the canteen and xerox center operate round the clock. The hostels are very clean, neatly furnished and have a warm feeling to them.


MICA is a Fulbright Affiliate Institute as well as an approved and accredited partner of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK. MICA is a member of Association of Asia Pacific Business Scools (AAPBS) and Association of Management Development Institutions in South Asia (AMDISA).
