National Fire Service College, Nagpur - The idea of opening a Training College for Fire Service personnel of the country was conceived in the Expert Committee Meeting held in 1950 and the National Fire service college was established in 1956 at Rampur, U.P. and was later shifted to the present location viz., Nagpur. In 1978, NFSC started B.E. (Fire) course of three and half years duration under the affiliation to Nagpur University. Being a residential college, National Fire Service College (NFSC), has its own hostel facilities with well furnished accommodation about 200 trainees at a time.
The college is housed at the Old Settlement Commissionate Building, altered the premises to the adequacy of a fire service Training Center, with sufficient space for conducting Fire Drills, and Demonstrations. The National Fire Service College , Nagpur functions under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, New Delhi. NFSC, which began its activities with only one curse, later, considering the needs of the country, industrialization and growth of Indian Industry, had added many more courses to its curriculum to give the fire training a professional outlook.
The trainee officer is trained in the actual fire ground situations, by expert staff and faculty. The College has teaching aids in the form of various charts, diagrams, epidiascope, Cine Projectors, Overhead Projectors, etc.
Placement Cell :-
These young engineers are picked up by reputed industries and major public sectors, considered to be the Navrathnas of Government of India. Almost 100% placement is done every year, through campus interviews. On completion of the course the B.E. (Firet was) Degree is recognized by UPSC for Indian Engineering Service Examination.
