National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Hyderabad was established in 1995 under the aegis of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. The institute has emerged as the premier Institute of Design, Management and Technology, developing professionals for taking up leadership positions in fashion business in the emerging global scenario. NIFT has been granted statutory status under the act of Parliament of India in 2006, empowering the Institute to award degrees and other academic distinctions.
The National Institute of Fashion Technology is a pioneer in envisioning and evolving fashion business education in the country through a network of twelve professionally managed domestic centres at New Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, Raebareli, Bhopal, Kannur, Patna and Shillong. NIFT has further spread its wings globally with the opening of an international centre at Mauritius.
The initial days began at Chenetha Bhavan, Nampally, Hyderabad with a strong team empowering the center. The inevitable success came in the form of a new campus. The Institute rejuvenated itself with its sprawling five-acre campus at Madhapur inaugurated on 20th May 1999. The campus is being admired for its architectural grandeur and aesthetic appeal.
Infrastructure :-
The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) is equipped with the infrastructure to provide a complete learning experience. There are classrooms and labs for jewellery, leather goods, fashion design, textiles, leather garments, knitwear, garment manufacturing, management studies and information technology. The National Resource Centre (comprising the library and the materials wing) is the country's only systematically documented source of fashion information and materials.
