Ness Wadia College of Commerce, Pune was established in 1959 when the first pre-degree Commerce class was started under the auspices of the Modern Education Society. In 1969, the Commerce wing, thus, came to be established as an independent college of commerce, named after Sir Ness Wadia, the renowned industrialist and philanthropist of his times. The college moved into its present premises with a building of its own in 1971. The college was inaugurated in 1969, by Dr. H. V. Pataskar, the then Vice-chancellor of the University of Pune.

The mission of the college is to impart to the rising generation, commerce and business education of high academic, professional and ethical standards, capable of developing their overall personality in the service of the Indian nation and the world at large by such means as are upright and most conducive to the attainment of this objective.

Placement Cell –
The placement cell is playing an active role in helping the students of Commerce, BBA and BBM secure jobs easily when they are in the third year of college. The college placement cell covers job opportunities in the field of banking, marketing, finance, insurance among others. They also successfully conduct seminars on varied subjects like pursuing education abroad or specialized learning in different fields which will help them in achieving their goals in the job market.
Students are guided as to how to handle an interview as also what to wear and what to carry with them so as to ensure that the students are not stressed out before an interview. At the beginning of the academic year the placement cell conducts a lecture to inform the students about the functioning of the placement cell and then carries out the enrollment of students who wish to register with the placement cell.
