New College of Florida (NCF) is a public, coed college established in 2001 which was founded by a private institution but later became an autonomous college of the State University System of Florida. The College offers a wide variety of courses ranging from Social Sciences to Natural Sciences and to Humanities. The school also offers programs in law & medicine under special request.
New College is a member of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, the regional body for the accreditation of degree-granting higher education institutions in the Southern states. New College is a proud member of the council of Public Liberal Arts College (COPLAC) and the Consortium for Innovative Environments in learning (CIEL).
Campus –
The College's campus extends to an area of 115 acres whereby it is sectored into three areas. Two campuses of the university are located near the Sarasota Bay while the third branches towards the east and which is linked by a pedestrian bridge.
The Bayfront Campus is surrounded by the Palmer Buildings, New College Foundation, the Four Winds Cafe, Bon Seigneur House, the Wellness Center, the Heiser Natural Sciences Complex & the Hal C. Ball Anthropology Laboratory.
