Overview

New York University (NYU) established in 1831, is a private and coeducational University. New York University is now one of the largest private universities in United States. The center of NYU is its Washington Square campus located in the heart of Greenwich Village. New York University has grown into one of the nation's leading institutions of higher education, a dynamic and prominent  research university that is "in and of the city" with an academic presence that spans the globe. More than 4,000 courses are offered in hundreds of degree and non-degree programs.

More than 15 schools, 10 international academic centers and the new NYU Abu Dhabi portal campus comprise the New York University academic community. NYU encourages dialogue between departments and schools, operating under the thinking that barriers between disciplines must not be barriers to learning.
