Otto Von Guericke University established in 1993, is one of the youngest German universities. Its roots lie in the country's three higher education institutions: Technical University, College of Education and Medical Academy of Magdeburg. With 9 faculties and nearly 13,800 students their importance grows increasingly as a center of teaching and research as well as the city of Magdeburg, which is becoming a city of industry, science and culture.
As one of the youngest universities in Germany has the Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg long developed its reputation and extends far beyond the borders of Saxony-Anhalt also.
The University is located in the green city on the Elbe, which was first mentioned around 805 AD.
