School of History, Philosophy and Classics, Massey University offers undergraduate majors in History, Philosophy and Classical Studies and a minor in Religious Studies. They also offer postgraduate programs in History and Philosophy. In addition to their extensive internal programs on the Manawatu and Albany campuses, they are strongly committed to provide access to their courses to students throughout New Zealand and to New Zealanders resident abroad.
Over two-thirds of students study at a distance and they maintain a large and growing number of undergraduate distance learning offerings. In addition their program of research training and practice at postgraduate level in History,and Philosophy, is available to students at a distance.
Massey University was established in 1927 as a small agricultural college in Palmerston North. Under its first principal, Sir Geoffrey Peren, it widened its range and enhanced its reputation. Sir Geoffrey retired in 1958 and in 1964, Massey became a full university. Massey University now has three campuses in the North Island and the highest number of extramural students. Massey offers the only veterinary science programmes in New Zealand. Massey also offers the only Bachelor of Aviation degree in New Zealand.

- Albany Campus -Albany campus is located in Auckland's North Shore. The campus gives students access to their long history of expertise in research and teaching, while enjoying state-of-the-art academic and recreational facilities.
Manawatu Campus - Massey Manawatu is New Zealand's premiere and largest institution for the life sciences, agricultural, horticultural and veterinary teaching and research. The Manawatu campus has two sites:
- Turitea - Renowned for its beautiful park-like setting of huge trees and attractive gardens, and
- Hokowhitu – It is located on the city side of the Manawatu River, near the lagoon.
- Wellington campus - Wellington campus is known as the creative campus which is in the heart of Wellington. Over the past few years the campus has established itself as a centre of excellence for study and research.
