School of People, Environment and Planning, Massey University is a rich mix of applied and fundamental social science disciplines. The school has research and teaching uniquely connect the social with the natural, and the personal with the planetary. Students develop skills to make these connections and to explore the problems that arise. As well as connecting across disciplines, it also maintains strong relationships with people and organizations outside the school and university.
The students come from five continents of the world. The school’s cross-disciplinary culture creates many opportunities for learning that are both stimulating intellectually and relevant practically. The school has staff draw on a wide range of social science theories and methodologies. The research is international and includes the Pacific, South and South East Asia, the Middle East and Europe as well as New Zealand. The scale of our work ranges from micro to the global level.
