School of Sport and Exercise Science, Waikato Institute of Technology is recognised as a leading provider of education and training for the sport, health & fitness, and recreation industries. The School works in collaboration and partnership with key stakeholders to develop and deliver a high quality academic portfolio, ranging from foundation entry level through to post graduate level programs. All of which provide clear pathways, and are relevant and responsive to learner and industry needs.
The School offers courses at Certificate, Diploma and Degree levels are available for full-time and part-time study. Successful students can progress to higher levels of qualification with credits for previous study. Their mission is to provide world-class education in sport science, exercise science and recreation, to positively influence the development of individuals and to meaningfully contribute to the greater community.
Their teaching staff are grounded in the realities of their professional practice and committed to on-going professional development and active research. The School continues to develop and support a creative and dynamic research culture, growing both capability and capacity in key areas.
The School campus is located in two campuses of Waikato Institute of Technology are -
- Hamilton City Campus - In the heart of Hamilton City, the City Campus is only a few minutes walk to major shopping malls, banks, movies and restaurants. The City Transport Centre is only five minutes walk away. The main Wintec library and the Gallagher Hub are at the City Campus.
- Rotokauri Campus - The Rotokauri Campus is about 10 minutes drive north of the CBD and is set on 56 hectare site. It has some the best purpose built training facilities in New Zealand, including sport science labs, specialist training restaurant and kitchens and fully equipped trades workshops
