Scottish Church College, Kolkata was established in 1830 as the general assembly’s institution and given its present name in 1929 is an institution born out of one such impetus. It is affiliated to the University of Calcutta but enjoys autonomous status for its faculty of post graduate studies. The college has been awarded grade A by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The college also enjoys the status with potential for excellence, a quality rating by the University Grants Commission.
The college aims at academic excellence along with social awareness and character building and primarily to impart liberal education pervaded by the universal principles and spiritual and moral values based on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ; also to produce intellectually sound, morally upright, socially concerned and spiritually oriented men and women to be of service to the nation. College also encouraged academic excellence as well as promoting personality development, community service and the refinement of aesthetic sensibilities.
