SDM Pre-University and degree college is one of the famous colleges in Karnataka imparting bachelor's degree in arts,commerce and science.It is located in a small and a beautiful town named Ujire. This is the first educational institution by Dharmasthala  Trust. Dr Yashovarma is the current Principal of SDM college(degree). This college has a very good infrastructure and teaching faculty. This is one of the few colleges which is accredited by NAAC(National Assessment and Accreditation Council)The college is known for its high quality learning in an academically excellent and culturally stable environment. Late Sri Rathnavarma Heggade, the then Dharmadikari of Kshethra Dharmasthala, established the College in 1966.

Besides being identified as a ‘College with Potential for Excellence’, SDM College is accredited at ‘A’ Level by NAAC, is conferred Autonomous Status by the UGC and has the Edusat Transmission Centre. The College imparts quality education to around 1600 students, through 21 Graduate and 06 Postgraduate Departments. The College has 4 National as well as 12 State Awards for NSS to its credit. The College has also won several awards and championships in various co-curricular and extra-curricular competitions.
