St. Aloysius College, Edathua was established in 1965 by St. George's Forane Church, Edathua. It started functioning in St. Aloysius High School as a junior college affiliated to the University of Kerala with 189 students, 9 teachers and 7 non-teaching staff. St. Aloysius' College, Edathua is a first grade college which has completed forty six years of glorious service to the cause of higher education. The college celebrated Ruby Jubilee in the academic year 2005-06 and is now a well-established NAAC accredited centre of learning offering a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The department of Commerce also offers facility for research leading to the award of Ph.D.
The College has now grown into a premier educational institution with 68 teaching staff, 34 non-teaching staff and 881 students on the rolls. It has now to its credit 9 UG courses and 3 PG courses. It is the only approved distance education centre of Mahatma Gandhi University in the entire Kuttanad region.
