OPERATIONS FORMS THE BACKBONE OF EVERY INDUSTRY
At SIOM, we transform engineers into operations professionals.
The SIOM Operations Management Post Graduation (PG) specialization empowers each engineer with sharp engineering and scientific capabilities along with smart business management disciplines. The students are trained to tackle planning, development, and implementation tribulations that their organization might confront. The curriculum deals with topics such as supply chain management, project management, technology management, modeling dynamic systems, and quality management.
SIOM offers two specially designed courses that will help engineers to develop the required skill-set.
The two courses are as follows:
Round 1 :
Stage - 1 Written Assessment Test (WAT)
Candidates will be given a written assignment/ essay/topical write-up to be completed in 10 minutes. They will be judged on their written communication skills like the content, language, grammar, presentation etc. for 10 marks.
Stage - 2 Group Exercise
Candidates will be given an exercise /activity to be completed in group within specified time. They will be assessed for 30 marks on their communication skills, team working, problem solving ability etc
Stage - 3 Eligibility document verification
Candidate will show their original documents pertaining to all information submitted in their application form particularly education, work experience, achievement as mentioned in the interview call letter.
Stage - 4 Personal Interview
Each candidate will be individually interviewed by an expert two member panel comprising of academicians/ HR professionals/ Operations management experts / corporate executives to assess his/her overall personality effectiveness, attitude, fitment to the programme, curricular and co-curricular performance, professional achievements, tenure of work experience , its relevance to programme etc. The personal interview process will carry 60 marks.

Management by practice through various sensitivity games and out door simulation always leaves a lasting impression. Chrysalis is our joyful expression of achievements. Promoted with the objective of sharing this joy & creativity within our well-wishers in Industry and society this newsletter goes to around 700 corporates & acclaimed academicians in India and abroad. The "CEO speaks" column invites Company's senior management to write on their contemporary thoughts or share their real life experiences in management. Companies can also submit their latest achievements in Operational Excellence. Students always aspire to seek inspiration from such writings.

SIOM Students Consulting Club Committee
Consulting is a coveted career choice for many MBA aspirants and experienced professionals. A consulting career can be very demanding in terms of the sheer responsibility that the job entails, traveling and networking opportunities. To cope with the unpredictable paradigm shifts in Business Strategies & greater risk of disruptions in operations, the role of consultants and their valuable business insights becomes all the more vital. Over the years consulting in operations & supply chain domain has gained momentum, providing ample opportunities for students to use their skill set and flourish in this sector. SIOM Students Consulting Club committee takes inspiration from SIOM's Mission statement and thrives to be a Centre of excellence in Consulting. It is an initiative to help students at SIOM figure out what management consulting is all about, what it demands and has to offer, and also help them decide whether or not it is a career that they should pursue.
E-cell is a student body which promotes entrepreneurship among students. Since its inception in the year 2008, E-cell has been actively fostering Entrepreneurship in its students. It invites various eminent entrepreneurs to deliver lectures to educate students about the joys and hardships of entrepreneurship. Case study workshops, Knowledge Camps are conducted throughout the year to involve students in activities that are essential to an entrepreneur.
"TATTV" - THE NATIONAL SEMINAR ON OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT
"TATTV" has been the flagship Seminar for the Operations fraternity. The purpose of "TATTV" is to 'unfold the real elements governing the dynamics' of business today. Since its inception in 2006, "TATTV" has been a forum witnessing COOs, Directors and VPs sharing their wealth of knowledge and experience with students and other industry leaders. "TATTV" through the years has constantly evolved to fuel the nascent desire of young Operations management professionals. It is an ideal occasion for companies to showcase their best practices in Operations management in domains like production, marketing, IT and finance.
"DRISHTI" - THE MANAGEMENT WAR AND CULTURAL EXTRAVAGANZA
"DRISHTI" - meaning vision, is the perfect cohesion of business and cultural conclave that exemplifies the spirit of continuous excellence. It is a platform for the enterprising, visionary and fearless where preparation meets opportunity. This annual event witnesses renowned B-Schools across India participating at the host of technical and cultural events during the two day festivity.
