The Open Polytechnic of New Zealand

The Open Polytechnic of New Zealand was established in 1946 as the Technical Correspondence School.  In 1963, it became the Technical Correspondence Institute (TCI) and began offering national training in trade’s subjects. As part of wider education reforms, the institution was renamed as The Open Polytechnic of New Zealand in 1990, becoming the specialist national provider of open and distance learning at tertiary level.

It is New Zealand's leading distance learning provider. Open Polytechnic is government-owned and funded institute, that delivers courses throughout New Zealand and internationally. Their focus as an educational institution is on student success. Each year around 29,000 mainly adult students enroll with them to gain the skills they need to help them progress in their current career or change to a new one. They strive to support vocational lifelong learning and national development goals through innovation and excellence in open, flexible learning.
