University of Kiel was established in 1665 as the Academia Holsatorum Chiloniensis by Christian Albert, Duke of Holstein-Gottorp, is located in the city of Kiel, Germany. The University of Kiel was different than today, an independent legal domain in the city and in the country.
As a state university, the University of Kiel is in a special situation: on the one hand it offers a wide range of subjects, so that students can study from Schleswig-Holstein in the country. On the other hand it presents itself with a clear academic profile and distinct specializations to the challenges of national and international competition among universities. These are partly due to the shift to transnational bachelor and master degree programs.
Today, the University of some 24,000 Men And women, and the range of subjects spans eight faculties. In addition to the founding faculty of agricultural and food Sciences, Mathematics and Natural Sciences, the Economic and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Engineering as the youngest involved in the whole university.
University of Kiel is located in the city of Kiel. Kiel is a special place: the long tradition as a maritime and seaport its charm.
