University of Kiel was established in 1665 as the Academia Holsatorum Chiloniensis by Christian Albert, Duke of Holstein-Gottorp, is located in the city of Kiel, Germany. The University of Kiel was different than today, an independent legal domain in the city and in the country.
As a state university, the University of Kiel is in a special situation: on the one hand it offers a wide range of subjects, so that students can study from Schleswig-Holstein in the country.
