Construction Management

Globalization and liberalization has made immense changes in the Indian economy. As a result there has been an overall growth in approximately all sectors of the economy and above all in the financial, service sectors and industrial. Therefore these sectors are emerging very rapidly; a part from these there are several new infrastructure development projects mostly in the area of power, telecom, petrochemical, transportation, information technology and real estate. The nation needs several efficient construction managers so that they can handle these projects successfully.

Construction Management generally deals with coordination, planning and control of a project from setting up to completion meant by meeting client’s requirements in order to produce a functionally and monetarily viable project that will be complete minglement (CPM) is project management that applies to the construction sector.

Basic Eligibility

UG:

 

For admission into a bachelor’s degree, the candidate must have passed the higher secondary school certificate (10+2) examination. The duration for this course is 3 years.


PG:

 

For admission into master’s degree, the candidate must be holding a bachelor's degree. Students will have to attend an entrance exam such as MAT/CAT/XAT or ATMA to get admitted into this course. The duration for this course is 2 years.


Others:

 

Eligibility Criteria for Advance Diploma Courses: -

For admission into diploma course a student must have a higher secondary education or 10+2 or equivalent. The duration of this program is of 6 months to 1 year.


Job Prospects

Construction contractors and managers are those who are responsible for planning, directing and budgeting the construction project. To plan the assignment, which is commonly carried out with the help of designing professionals and a number of difficult scheduling procedures are outlined using charts or some other type of graphical representation. Often computers will be in use to help managers evaluate the options and decide on the plan that will provide the most bang for your money.

Apart from them they are also in charge for deciding on the proper construction techniques plus setting up the construction operations into logical and detailed steps. They allot a certain amount of time to complete each step so that deadlines are met for each phase of the project. They are also responsible for labor related issues which includes supervising the hiring and firing of employees.

There are vast opportunities for construction managers in both public and private sector companies. Public sector like highways, air port and port development organizations and government departments such as railways and defense are among the top employer of construction/project managers. Project managers also get favorable employment options in energy, telecommunication, power and IT related companies.
