Sales and Marketing is a field in management which deals with sales and marketing of the firm’s products and services. The major objectives of firms are to promote and sell their products and services. To carry out the product promotions, marketing, advertisement, sales and public relation every firm whether small or big must employ professionals who would take care of all these things. These tasks are carried out by Sales and Marketing Managers. They direct policies such as marketing strategies which includes promotion, market research, pricing, product development sales, and advertisement etc.
Detailed marketing strategies are developed by sales and marketing managers for a firm. By doing this they can analyze the demand and supply of the products and services in the market. They can also recognize the key competitors and potential markets such as retailers, government, businesses, wholesalers and general public. The main aim of all the firms in this sector is to maximize the market share and profits by developing valuable pricing strategies and also maintaining customer satisfaction.

Basic Eligibility
UG:
For admission into bachelor’s degree a student must have a higher secondary education or 10+2 or equivalent. The duration of this program is of 3 years.
PG:
For admission into master’s degree a student must have a bachelor’s degree in any stream. The duration of this program is of 2 years.
Others:
Eligibility Criteria for Advance Diploma Courses: -
For admission into Advance diploma course a student must have a higher secondary education or 10+2 or equivalent. The duration of this program is of 6 months to 1 year.
Eligibility Criteria for Diploma Courses: -
For admission into Diploma course a student must have a higher secondary education or 10+2 or equivalent. The duration of this program is of 6 months to 1 year.
Job Prospects
After pursuing a course in sales and marketing from a reputed Institute, a student has a option to build a lucrative career in this field. Sales involve meeting and fixing targets and work on strategies. They take on distributors and plan sale outlets. Marketing requires planning of strategy so as to deliver goods and services efficiently to the customer.
Sales and Marketing sector includes pricing, product development, sales promotion, market research and distribution. Almost in all companies sales or marketing managers are being employed.
Sales and marketing managers usually work in advertising, manufacturing, finance and insurance, retail, publishing etc. The majority of public relations managers work in insurance, scientific, technical services, professional, and educational institutes and in health care services.
Pay packages: -
Those who have completed their courses in Sales & Marketing can get a job as a Manager in any firm and begin their career with a basic salary of Rs.20,000 to Rs.25,000 per month mostly in private sector. The salary package in public sector is lower than that of in private sector.
The salary may increase depending upon certain factors such as qualification, job profile and experience. For those who are working at senior level and specialized in sales & marketing can earn a salary up to Rs.50,000 to Rs.60,000 per month.
