B.A. (Anthropology)- Stands for Bachelor of Arts (Anthropology). This is typically a three year course. Eligibility for this course is an Intermediate (10+2)in science (with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and/or Mathematics). Subjects studied under this degree are - cultural anthropology, physical anthropology, archaeology, and linguistics. The BA degree in Anthropology prepares students for study in all or any four major sub-fields.

Basic Eligibility

 

For admission into bachelor’s degree program a student must pass higher secondary education or 10+2 with biology as the subject and minimum of 50% marks from any Institute/university. The duration of the program is of 3 years.

Job Prospects

Those who want to pursue a career in the field of anthropology have multiple career options.  Anthropological Survey of India is the major recruiter for anthropologists in the country both at the centre and at the state levels as well. Several government research institutes employ anthropologists.

Even international agencies like UNICEF, UNESCO and WHO also recruit anthropologists too carry out research activities. Other sectors where anthropologists can be employed are art galleries, curators, publishing houses, NGOs, archives, museums and libraries.

 

Pay package: -

For freshers who want to build a career in this field have lucrative job opportunities, initially their pay package ranges between Rs.8,000 to Rs.12,000 per month. There is a stiff competition among those who are working as researchers in the field for grant of money from national and international funding agencies. Hence, candidates who wish to pursue research in anthropology must be well prepared.
