What is the eligibility criteria for CETK 2013?

The eligibility criteria:

  • For admission into engineering courses through CET, candidates must appear for Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics subjects.
  • For admission to Architecture course the candidate must appear for NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) conducted by the Council of Architecture.

Who conducts the CETK 2013?

Every year Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) will hold the responsibility of conducting CETK.

When will the Brochure be supplied to students?

The Brochure will be supplied  to  the schools & colleges  in Karnataka and also  to  the students who are  residing outside  the State of Karnataka on or after 10.03.2010.

How to obtain the Brochure cum Application form of CETK 2010?

Brochure cum Application  form will be supplied  through  the schools  / colleges  located within  the State of Karnataka  in which  the students are studying 2nd PUC or  12th  standard  examination  upon  submission  of  Demand  Draft  for  Rs.  650/-  to  the  Principals  in  advance,  drawn  in  favour  of  “The  Executive  Director, Karnataka Examinations Authority, Bangalore”, payable at Bangalore and Rs. 500/- for students belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Category-1. The  repeater and ex-students who have passed  the qualifying examination within  the State of Karnataka before 2010  should also  submit  the demand draft  for  the above said amount to the respective schools / colleges. The Last date for submission of Demand Draft to the Principal of Schools and Colleges within Karnataka will be 03.03.2010.

I have participated in the Engineering admission round and not selected any seat, can I attend to the casual vacancy round of Engineering/ Architecture?

All Engineering rank holders are eligible to participate in Engineering casual vacancy round. Candidates who have selected or not selected a seat / attended or not attended during casual vacancy round are eligible in the casual vacancy round of Engineering as per their merit and schedule. And those who are holding Medical/ Dental/ ISMH seat are not eligible to participate in the casual vacancy round of engineering/ Architecture.        

I have selected a seat in admission round and attending casual vacancy round of Medical/ Dental/ ISMH/Engineering /Architecture, if I will not select any seat and cancel the seat, how much fee amount will be deducted?

Candidate can change the college or course or place, subject to availability of the seats during his turn comes in the casual vacancy round, the seat selected during the admission round will get automatically cancelled if he/she select a new seat and will be added to the board and that seat will be offered for next eligible candidates on merit as per schedule. The fees paid by them during the admission round will be adjusted upon selection of seat, no fee amount will be deducted.

Medical/Dental:

If the candidate cancel the Medical/ Dental seat selected during the admission round, before his/her turn comes in the casual vacancy round of Medical/ Dental, 50% of the fee amount will be forfeited and the balance amount will be refunded on the same day.

If the candidate cancel the Medical/ Dental seat selected during the admission round, after his turn comes in the casual vacancy round of Medical/ Dental, 100% of the fee amount will be forfeited.

ISMH:

Similarly, If the candidate cancel the ISMH seat selected during the admission round, before his turn comes in the casual vacancy round of ISMH, 50% of the fee amount will be forfeited and the balance amount will be refunded on the same day.

If the candidate cancel the ISMH seat selected during the admission round, after his turn comes in the casual vacancy round of ISMH, 100% of the fee amount will be forfeited.

ENGG:

Similarly, If the candidate cancel the ENGG seat selected during the admission round, before his turn comes in the casual vacancy round of ENGG, 50% of the fee amount will be forfeited and the balance amount will be refunded on the same day.

If the candidate cancel the ENGG seat selected during the admission round, after his turn comes in the casual vacancy round of ENGG, 100% of the fee amount will be forfeited.

If I select a seat in casual vacancy round of Medical/ Dental, reporting or not reporting can I attend for casual vacancy Engineering/ Architecture round?

The candidates who are holding a Medical/ Dental seat and also who select Medical/ Dental seat during casual vacancy round are not eligible to participate in ISMH/ Engineering/ Architecture casual vacancy round. If such candidates wishes to participate in the ISMH/ Engineering/ Architecture casual vacancy round should invariably surrender their Medical/ Dental seat on or before their turn comes in the Medical/ Dental casual vacancy round.        

Similarly, a candidate holding ISMH seat during casual vacancy round or confirms the ISMH seats selected during admission round will not be eligible to participate in Engineering/ Architecture casual vacancy round. If such candidates wishes to participate in the Engineering/ Architecture casual vacancy round should invariably surrender their ISMH seat on or before their turn comes in the ISMH casual vacancy round.

I have selected Medical/Dental/ISMH/Engineering Seat, but not reported, weather my seat is cancelled or the date can be extended?

Those who have selected the Medical/ Dental/ ISMH/ Engineering seat in the admission round are eligible in the casual vacancy round, whether reported to the college or not. If you select another seat during casual vacancy round, the computer automatically cancels the seat already taken in the admission round and also transfer the full fee amount paid during admission round without any penalty or deduction of fees. If you will not select any seat during the casual vacancy round, the old seat will remain in your name, on that day the date of admission printed on the admission order will be extended. (Candidates need not to worry about the extension of date and seat will not be cancelled.)

Who are eligible for Medical/Dental casual vacancy round?

All Medical/ Dental rank holders are eligible to participate in Medical / Dental casual vacancy round. Candidates who have selected any seat or not selected any seat or attended or not attended the admission round are eligible in the casual vacancy round of Medical / Dental as per their merit and schedule.

What is the Eligibility criteria?

For Medical courses, the applicant should have passed Karnataka 2nd PUC / 12th std. or equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects and with English as one of the languages of study and have obtained a minimum of 50% of marks in aggregate in the PCB group and should secure a minimum of 50% of marks in aggregate in PCB subjects in the Common Entrance Test.
The minimum eligibility for engineering course will be 50% in II PU with Physics and Maths as compulsory subjects, along with Chemistry or Biotechnology or Biology.  For SC/ST minimum eligibility will be 45% in II PU.
For Architecture course, the applicant should have passed Karnataka 2nd PUC / 12th Std. or equivalent exam with Mathematics as a compulsory optional subject and obtained a minimum of 50% of marks in aggregate in all the subjects in the qualifying examination and should compulsorily appear for NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) and get a minimum of 40% in it.
A candidate who had obtained a seat in any discipline through the CET Cell in any of the previous years will not be eligible to appear for the CET again for selection of a seat in the same discipline. Such candidate will immediately forfeit the seat selected by him during the previous years, upon selection of a seat in a different discipline during the year.
  

My parent(s) were residents of Karnataka. Am I eligible?

Any candidate is eligible IF The candidate and either of his / her parent's mother tongue is Kannada, Tulu or Kodava
AND Either of parent's was domiciled in the state of Karnataka
AND Such candidates have passed the qualifying examination from a University or Board or any other Institution located outside Karnataka and is residing outside the State of Karnataka.
If you do come under this category, you will be eligible Provided that you undergo a Kannada Language test conducted by CET.

On what basis will the merit list/rankings be provided?

The merit list of candidates for admission to Medical courses will be determined only on the basis of marks obtained by candidates in PCB subjects, taken together, in the Common Entrance Test.
For Engineering  courses, the merit list will be determined on the basis of marks obtained in the respective optional subjects, in both qualifying examination and the Common Entrance Test taken in equal proportions. For Architecture course, the merit list will be determined on the basis of marks obtained in both qualifying examination and NATA taken in equal proportions.

I am not a resident of Karnataka. How do I obtain the application brochure?

The Karnataka candidates  residing outside Karnataka  (Horanadu, Gadinadu and other Karnataka candidates  i.e, who  fulfills  the eligibility conditions) who are studying or who have studied 12th standard or equivalent examination outside the State of Karnataka, within the territory of India, can procure the brochure cum application form by “SPEED POST”, by sending a self-addressed cloth-lined envelope of size 25 cm x 30 cm along with a Demand Draft for Rs. 750/- drawn in favour of “The Executive Director, Karnataka Examinations Authority, Bangalore”, payable at Bangalore and a Karnataka  candidate  residing outside  India  can get  the brochure  cum application form by sending a demand draft for Rs. 5,000/-.

The contents on the self-addressed envelope should be in English or Kannada language only. The cover in which the demand draft and self-addressed envelope are sent should be boldly super scribed with the words “REQUEST FOR CET-2010 BROCHURE” and should be sent  to  the  following address of Executive Director by  “Speed Post” ONLY.

How to apply for CETK If I am currently in / a repeater in II PUC / 12th STD in Karnataka?

Brochure-cum-application form will be supplied through the schools / colleges located within the State of Karnataka in which the students are studying for II PUC or 12th standard examination, Upon submission of application fee by  Demand Draft to The Principal.
The repeater and ex-students who have passed the qualifying examination within the State of Karnataka should also submit the demand draft for the specified application fee amount to the respective schools / colleges.
