With global B-schools increasing their tuition fees significantly every year, the question of whether they provide better returns on investment than Indian B-schools arises. All 92 students of the 2013-14 batch at Institute of Management-Tiruchirappalli (IIM-T) have garnered summer internships. IIM-T is only the second Indian Institute of Management after Indian Institute of Management-Rohtak to have placed all its students for the summer. The average stipend for the summer internships this year is Rs. 41,000 and the highest stipend is Rs. 1 lakh. The percentage of Indian women taking GMAT is exhibiting a significant increase. The number of Indian women taking the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) in 2012 has increased by 60% since 2007. This corresponds to an increase from 4,863 women in 2007, to 7,812 women in 2012. On a global scale the number of women accounted for 43% of all test takers, as compared to 39% in 2008. India which has the third largest number of aspirants writing the GMAT, after the United States and China, saw a total of 30,213 test takers in 2012.
