The number of Indian students aspiring for Australian universities for higher studies seems to be back on track after a sharp decline followed by the racial attacks of 2010. Sources from Immigration department reported that over 1.8 lakh international students had secured student visas in 9 months period till March 31, 2012. Data available also shows a 4.5% rise in applications as compared to applications made during the same period in 2011. Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University have decided to introduce a $60 million initiative together, wherein they will offer free online courses to the students. Indian origin professor, Anant Agarwal will head the collaboration.
