Sweets, new clothes and biryani are a part of the Eid-ul-Fitr celebration. Eid ul-Fitr marks the end of the month-long fasting period of Ramadan. It begins with the sighting of the new moon as is with all the months of the Islamic calendar. Muslims wake up early on the day to attend special prayers in mosques, consisting of a sermon followed by a short congregational prayer.
The festivities and merriment start after the prayers with visits to friends and relatives, being at fairs or carnivals, enjoying a get-together and thanking the Creator for all blessings.
Eid is a time to come together as a community and to renew friendship and family ties. This is a time for peace for all Muslims in the world to devote to prayers and mutual well-being.
Muslims not only celebrate the end of fasting, but thank Allah for the help and strength that they believe He gave them throughout Ramadan, to help them practice self-control.
