After the completion of second round of admissions, 10,413 seats in pharmacy and engineering degree courses have gone vacant in Gujarat.  There were a total of 50, 052 seats of which 7674 seats have gone vacant in engineering and 2713 in pharmacy colleges. These figures were given by the ACPC (Admission Committee for Professional Courses) officials after 2 subsequent mock rounds.

12500 seats were left vacant after first round. Students who had taken supplementary exams will be given admissions against these seats if they clear the exam and fulfill the eligibility criteria.

Some central board students have also not got admission. So these seats will be granted to them as well.

ACPC officials revealed that the state has ample number of professional seats. Infact seats have remained vacant in those streams which have lost charm with students or in colleges which lack proper infrastructure. They further added that many students preferred to choose mechanical engineering branch this year.

Self-finance engineering colleges in Gujarat give-up 25% management quota

Around 40 self-finance engineering colleges in Gujarat will give-up their 25% management quota. The decision was taken as colleges were facing difficulty in enrolling students against these seats.

Education department officials revealed that the fee of one management quota seat is Rs 2-5 lakh. But since no students applied for management seat this year, the management has decided to quit their quota. In this regard they requested Joint Admission Committee for Professional Courses (JACPC) to enroll students against 25% quota. This would prevent seats from going vacant.

Officials further added that out of the total 50000 seats in the state, nearly 12000 seats remained vacant after the first mock round of admission. Only mechanical and civil engineering branches have been filled completely, rest all other engineering streams have vacancy.
