AIEEE Results Announced

The Central Board of Secondary education (CBSE) announced the Results of the All India Engineering entrance exam (AIEEE) on Saturday Night. About 11.37 lakh students registered for this years' examination. About 83,049 students appeared for the architecture section of the examination.

The examination was conducted offline (April 29) and online (May 7, 12, 19 and 26) this year.  The qualifying marks for students this year will be 48 (general category), 45(OBC), 18(SC/ST) and 18(Physically challenged).

About 34,311 seats at centrally funded institutes were available to candidates last year and a similar number of seats is expected to be available this year. State institutes may also accept the AIEEE score while conducting their own counseling.

AIEEE toppers-Karnataka

Sagar Honnungar, a student of NPS, Rajajinagar scored 330 out of 360 to bag the state Rank 1 and an All India Rank (AIR) of 21.Sagar, has been intrigued by machines since he was a child and plans to take up mechanical engineering at IIT Madras. He had secured the 568th rank in the IIT-JEE and 3rd rank in the CET.

Aditi R secured the 2nd rank in the state and AIR 61. She is a student of NAP, Indiranagar and had earlier secured a rank of 1246 in the IIT JEE, and plans to take up Physics engineering at IIT Madras. She is a trained classical dancer and singer and used music as a stress buster during her exams.

Vivek BS, a student of Deeksha centre for learning PU College, secured an AIR of 315, apart from securing the 2nd rank in Comedk, 29th rank in CET and 1981 rank in IIT JEE.

Prithvi Hegde, topped the state in the architecture section of the AIEEE and hopes to get into the NITs or SPA Delhi.

148 tribal boys from Chhattisgarh crack AIEEE

Almost 148 students from Chattisgarh's Naxal belt overcame threats and luring by Maoists, to crack the AIEEE. The feat was possible because of a coaching initiative 'Prayas' by the state's tribal welfare department.

148 out of the 222 boys,who were mostly from Left Wing extremism areas were selected in the AIEEE this year.

Meritorious Students from various districts of the state were accommodated and given coaching in the state capital as a part of the initiative. Following the success of the students, the government has decided to extend the facilities to provide for 300 boys and 300 girls at the state capital.

The students had to constantly counter convincing by Naxals, who asked them to come back and fight for their cause instead of being at the state capital.
