Mining Engineering is a branch of engineering which deals with the techniques for extracting and processing minerals from natural surroundings. Extracting of minerals includes the metallic and non-metallic ores, solid fuels and energy sources etc. The main function of mining engineers is to put the knowledge of scientific theories, engineering fundamentals and developed technologies to discover and recover natural resources in a profitable and safe manner. India's rich and diversified natural resources is yet to be explored and properly exploited, therefore job opportunities are wide open for aspiring graduates in this field . Good communication skills, strong management skills, ability to work as a team and an understanding of business management are some of the prerequisites in this field.
