Engineering is a branch which deals with the function of scientific and mathematical values to practical ends such as the designing, manufacturing, and operation of well-organized and economical structures of machines, methods, and systems. Engineering discipline has many branches such as civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, computer engineering, aeronautical engineering and many more.

Basically, engineering applies scientific theories to obtain practical solutions.  The study of engineering involves working with tools, machines, metals, chemicals, structures and various different materials to bring innovation or invent new technology or simply modifying the existing technology. The methods followed in engineering field are planning, designing, construction, production, testing, implementation and maintenance.

Basic Eligibility



To pursue undergraduate course in engineering, a candidates should be 10+2 pass with 50% marks in physics, chemistry and mathematics from recognized Board examination. Most of the colleges offer admission based on the score obtained in the entrance exams such as JEE conducted at the national/state level.



To pursue a postgraduate course in engineering, candidates should have Bachelor’s degree in engineering from recognized University.



Eligibility for Diploma Courses: -

To pursue Diploma course in engineering, candidates should be 10+2 pass in science stream with Physics, Maths and Chemistry subjects from recognized board examination

There is a great demand for engineers in the sector of Merchant Navy, Civil Aviation industry and Defense Services. Besides, engineers also work in various domains such as design, architecture, building and construction, leather technology, footwear technology, packaging technology, plastic industry and management.

Pay package: -

The remuneration package offered for entry level engineers is Rs 15,000 – 25, 000 per month.  However, engineering graduates from prestigious Institutes such as IITs are offered significantly higher package than engineering graduates from other institutions.
