An account written by the former CEO of KPMG, after he was diagnosed with brain cancer and given only 6 months to live. Doing Ian McEwan's Saturday, it's ponderous to put it mildly and i've been distracted to really sink my teeth in. Compared to Enduring Love and Amsterdam, it's taking time to hot up, may be it won't hot up at all. Want to finish it this weekend. The Last Templar by Raymond Khoury..... Whenever I read about life in places like China (cultural revolution time), Iran, Afghanistan, I am glad to be in India! Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini - Recommend it for anyone who wants to know the journey from pre revolutionary Afghanisthan to the country under Taliban - Really like the narration Reached the last chapter of Philip K Dick's A Scanner Darkly only to realize the final 5 pages were missing. Just found it's e-book version on the 'net! I'm reading "Yoga school dropout". A delightful read about a British advertising executive on her search for nirvana. Well researched, its an eye opener about the different yoga schools in India from Rishikesh to Pune to Mysore to Chennai all the way to Kerala. Also packs in a subtle sense of humour and her take on the spirituality seeking millions!!! I am reading 'The Das Capital' by Karl Marx. Full marks to him for bringing out the evils of capitalism... Reading 'Maximum City' by Suketu Mehta. All about Bombay - liked the beginning but now it seems to deal mostly with the underworld - gangsters, police and cops. Not very cheerful |
