Freidman's "The World is Flat"

I am reading a book titled - " The Trader Joe's adventure"
Its about a retail chain in US - Trader Joe's . It is probably the only chain in USA which has the power to outwalmart Walmart. The business success of the company is thoroughly chronicled in the book. Its a delight to read about a company which creates 2.3 Billion USD in revenue each year with almost no adspend on any marketing activity...All the sales are generated through word of mouth

Just upload on limewire. It aint legal but gets the job done

sorry for introducing a diffferent topic under this... I have opened a new thred please have a look at this..

Well i started reading books now.. GOD FATHER by Mario Puzo.. Coooool Book.

well, conversation may not in line with the forum's topic anymore but here are some of my thoughts

there are two approaches -
- aggregate info on books from different sites and offer it with a clean search
- collate info through user generated content using a bookmarking tool

what id look for as a specifically in a site is a clean search with some kind of a recommendation mechanism - where the books with most positive buzz are ranked higher.

id also probably look out for a feature that lets me review books, swap books and create and share lists.

and i dunno if any of this will eventually make any sense, but these are some random thoughts i had.

Thanks buddy(Sandeep).. Well i would like to know where all i can find books, I plannig to launch a website(not acommercial one) where ppl can get books, sell book, read books, blog thr comments, just float in the world of books. But to start up with this i need to know from where i can get these information. and second thng is what exactly book lovers want to do on this. I mean what feature book lovers expect(like bloging, forums)? Nay help would be appreciated.

Thanks a lot..

What kind of help are you seeking?

i just finished 'The Digital Fortress'. omg what a book.
PS: ample amount of computer knoledge needed to under stand it

I'm not reading any book.. But I'm planing create a place to read books (on web)!!!!!!! Need help. Any helping hands (not money .. just information sharing)...

Yes liked Kite Runner except the end gets a bit filmi, like bollywood. Whenever I read about life in places like China (cultural revolution time), Iran, Afghanistan, I am glad to be in India!

Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini - Recommend it for anyone who wants to know the journey from pre revolutionary Afghanisthan to the country under Taliban - Really like the narration

Camus' The Stranger - have just begun, but so far so good...

Reached the last chapter of Philip K Dick's A Scanner Darkly only to realize the final 5 pages were missing. Just found it's e-book version on the 'net!

I'm reading "Yoga school dropout". A delightful read about a British advertising executive on her search for nirvana. Well researched, its an eye opener about the different yoga schools in India from Rishikesh to Pune to Mysore to Chennai all the way to Kerala. Also packs in a subtle sense of humour and her take on the spirituality seeking millions!!!

I am reading 'The Das Capital' by Karl Marx. Full marks to him for bringing out the evils of capitalism...

Reading 'Maximum City' by Suketu Mehta. All about Bombay - liked the beginning but now it seems to deal mostly with the underworld - gangsters, police and cops. Not very cheerful .
