I stay in other world for few days after readin Paulo Coelho's or Chetan Bhagat's... the feeling is quite good..... Planning to get a new credit card? are you aware of the in and out of credit cards. Do you want to Know the truth about credit cards?..... Yes. Dickens has influenced my thought process right from school days.. iam a voracious reader and read a wide range of books. "living with himalayan masters"...a true account of real life.....an eye opener to real purpose of life..that of being in joy at all times...which is somehow ordinarily beyond ones comprehension i thought fountain head made a strong impression on me too...... most ppl i ask say they found the book a lot boring n couldnt get wat the author was tryin to say.... but i loved.... i have just finished with the alchemist by paulo coelho and started the pilgrimage...inspiring ones!!!!! My life changed after reading LATERAL THINKING hey sushma,i think there are many bks which hve inspired me and my approach 2 life.some of them mld be---alan cohen,steven covey,Dr.brian weiss,norman vincent,deepak chopra and many more.I feel life is an open book and if u observe keenly,you get to learn a new thing every day which are so simple and inspiring. charles dickens in english clasics thomas carlyle in philosophy and r d ranade in religion&mysticism have influenced my life to a great extent charles dickens in english clasics thomas carlyle in philosophy and r d ranade in religion&mysticism have influenced my life to a great extent chetan bhagat has really influenced my thoughts from his book named "five point someone" one book that has registered an impact on me is "Freedom is not Free" by Shiv Khera. at first, i was a bit let down after reading the book. but the very next moment, it opened up a whole new perspective for me. it changed the way I looked upon INDIA and provided me with the required zest and zeal to do something............. One Boook by Ramana MAharshi Who Am I is worth read for knowing oneself. After readig this book there was absolute freedom from all fears ! a really touching book is 'the kite runner' by khaleed hosseni. i read at least one book a week. the only book i've read more than once is 'to kill a mocking bird'. one of the books that i loved reading was 'bridges of madison county' The Outsider and the Fall by Camus, Catcher in the Rye by Salinger, most of Arthur C Clarkes' Science Fiction None has influenced me as such but the ones I liked were novels written by Daphne Du Maurier, Georgette Heyer, Agatha Christie, P.G.Wodehouse. Complications - Atul Gawande. This Surgeon turned writer gave me vocation that I havent once regretted. I finally found a profession which has a soul! Most of answers to this post have coverd books like Alchemist (4 being always positive), Ayn Rand's Fountain Head (2 love n imbibe competency in proffessional sphere of life), Man cant listen and Women can't read map (a guide 2 understand d women). WHAT DO U THINK ABOUT "MEIN KEIMPH" ? THERE R MANY PERSONS WHO THINKS THAT ITS AWKARD TO READ A NOVEL WRITTEN BY "HITLER" BUT WHAT I THING IS THAT HE WAS A REAL MAN WHAT HE THOUGHT HE DID . I STARTED 2 READ HIS BOOK BUT U WONT BELIEVE AFTER I FINISHED TWO CHAPTER SOME KIND OF CHEMICAL REACTION WAS GENERATING IN ME SO I GAVE UP READIN THAT IF U WONT BELIEVE TRY THIS OUT. I STILL REMEMBER 1 OF HIS SAYINGS " THE GODDES OF FATE CAUGHT ME IN HIS HANDS & OFTEN THREATNED ME TO CLUTCH ME BUT THE WILL GREW STRONGER AS THE OBSTACLE INCREASED & ATLAST IT WAS THE WILL WHICH GOT SUCCEDED" I CAN NEVER FORGET THIS . NE WAYS IF DER IS ANY 1 WHO TOO THINKS LIKE ME OR HAVE NE COMENTS REGARDING THIS TELL ME. One book that i really loved reading was " truth, love and a lil malice" by khushwant singh....it is a must read if u enjoy K.S.'s style of writing and his master's humour......all the way he succesfully and subtly shows an outsiedr's point of view of our political system...its pros and cons....rouhg side sooth side and ofcourse grey side, white side and yellow side....( i mean the liter side.... Ayn Rand's Fountainhead..'Howard Roark' is undoubtedly one of the most inspiring characters ever conceived...another book that comes to mind is the 'Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy' Series...a matchless Sattire..makes us see the insignificance of our materialistic pursuits.. well i am die hard reader i keep reading but the books that influenced me most is ,the monk who sold his ferari,family wisdom,god speaks by meher baba and recently i loved da vinci code I love the book "Why men dont listen & women cant read maps". This is one of my personal favourites and I read it over and over again..It has a mix of humour and science on understanding men & women. It is a must read. i luv the book,"behind the golden arches"abt mcdonalds,& books like fountain head,atlas shrugged,we,the living by Ayn Rand. 2 books by Ricardo Semler - 'Maverick' and 'Seven Day Weekend'. Makes you think how work environment can be very different from what it is in most places seven habits of highly effective teens by sean covey. Paulo Coelho's Alchemist - Wonderful book in that aspect. It definitely makes U to think abt Ur life!! paulo Coelho. two books are noteworthy. one is 11 MInutes. forces u to rethink everything u think u konw about love and ***. everything. and no, it is not pornography, so dont pick it up if all u r looking for is a hard on. Hi... am not a regular book reader, but at times i read, mostly Kannada Novels... And in recent past the book which influenced me in many ways... "Jugaari Cross" by Poorna Chandra Tejaswi. The Hero Suresha... Tejaswi has given life to him... And am a lot like Suresha.... |
