We have seen a tremendous growth in the mobile industry especially in the metros & cities, talking about the hardware it has evolved into a powerful device in a shorter time compared to PC's

But there is whole other part of people who are not interested in the latest gizmos the mobile phone has to offer, rather they would have it used just for it basic purpose for placing & receving calls, for simple reason they don't find much need to it or simply don't use it. I have personally seen a host of people telling me "what's in the mobile all we need a Green & Red button to place calls"

What is the point or what am I talking about, well in simple terms looking forward to come with simple mobile devices cost effective to be affordable by the other part and a longer battery life. This is a huge untapped market in our growing mobile community. Don't you think?

If any entreprenuers or techie guys can come up with a idea, to design a similar phone but keep in mind, has to be good looking i.e. cutting edge in its look , since because we are designing a cost effective model it dosen't have to look cheap.

So blogieZ any bright ideaZ?

Thats really true jamal. As u say even if the Cheaper mobiles come some people just go for the costlier mobiles just to show off. I'm not saying that everyone has to go for cheaper mobiles or costlier mobiles. Its up to them to know abt the usage of mobile. For example i would like to share a incident which happened in my friend mobile shop,

Customer came in with some latest mobile and he asked to the topup card as he had less balance. My friend also gave him and the amount was toppedup. But after a few min he came rushing that he had no balance again. Then my friend found that he had negative balance due to the GPRS facility. But that customer didnt know abt it and he was fighting with my friend as if he had cheated him without recharging. Customer said he used to attend call using the Green button and end the call using Red button. Other than that he knows nothing abt mobile, That was a big Joke in my friend shop.

Likewise some people just get the latest trend of mobile which of no use to them..

Good question. I think there are 2 sides to the coin - the tech savvy (mostly youth) and the non-savvy (40+ people? or tech illiterate or don't care types).

Well, I think the big companies are doing it right - attack both the segments. Its the same with pc's or laptops - for people wanting high-tech, the companies give dual core, 100GB hard disk with a hefty prize tag. For the home user who just checks their emails, the latest attraction could be the Rs.15,000 laptops that were recently announced.

For small companies however, I think they identify the niche market like the bigger share of the Indian market which is probably non-tech savvy. Good niche to begin with.

For the tech-savvy market (the current teens and youths in their 20's and 30's) might be a good idea to provide them with latest content, to their hearts content!

Yes its true, as the old saying "Content is the King" have any bright idea let me know I am not a direct coder but have coder friends who have developed SMS gateways and applications.

And as for the low cost mobile phones you are right Motorola is into it and also Nokia, heard even Spice is developing one and recent one to join the race is HFCL with license from Qualcomm to manufacture CMDA sets and HFCL major client is Reliance.

But we have always seen a higher percent of innovation coming from small firms who later make it big, there are several classic example. It took a small David to bring down the mighty Goliath.

The plan is to not bring down anyone but to come up with a handset that will be Indianized for the remaning unconnected commoners of our Country. No gizmos just pure communication device.

motorola is already planning and will be out soon with a phone less than 1000 rupees. all mobile companies must be doing there R&D on it and it will be difficult to entire this space.

Rather think on the content that can be given to mobile. thats the future
