The summer placement session at the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIM Kozhikode) has been upbeat this year, with 107 recruiters taking part in the process. The summer placement session for the Post Graduate Program in Management (PGP) batch was concluded in merely 10 days, according to institute sources.
There was a 14% increase in average monthly stipend compared to last year at the IIM Kozhikode summer placements. Moreover, the total number of jobs offered by each recruiter shot up by 19%. Out of all the recruiters, over 50 visited the campus for the very first time, institute sources added.
The leading recruiters were Deutsche Bank, HUL, Goldman Sachs and TAS, which jointly extended 30 job offers.
The first-time recruiters were Apollo Hospitals, CommonFloor, Axis Bank, CRISIL, eBay, Dabur, Hector Beverages, iNautix, Idea, Maersk, Muthoot Group, Microsoft, Titan, Snapdeal, etc.
The Tolaram Group and Paramount Computer Systems extended offers for international postings to the interns from IIM Kozhikode.
Firms belonging to the Finance sector extended offers to 19% of the students of the batch. The firms include Altisource, Axis Bank, American Express, Citibank, Deutsche Bank, CRISIL, Goldman Sachs, ICICI Bank, HSBC, Nomura, JP Morgan, etc. These firms offered roles in Corporate Finance, Capital Markets, Investment Banking, Asset Management, Global Investment Research and Risk Analysis. Goldman Sachs hired 11 students for different divisions. JP Morgan and Deutsche Bank each picked 5 students.
Around 43% of the batch opted for Sales & Marketing jobs.
Moreover, 15% bagged internships in General Management and Consulting positions.
Offers in Logistics and Operations positions were extended by Apollo Hospitals, Amazon, Asian Paints, Flipkart, Bosch, eBay, Hero MotoCorp, HCCB, Snapdeal and Maersk.
From the Technology sector, companies such as Capgemini, Microsoft, TCSBSE, iNautix and Wipro offered jobs to the students.
According to institute officials, the positive placement trend reflects the recruiters' confidence in the skills and aptitude of the students of IIM Kozhikode. The feat is expected to be repeated during the final placement season.
The summer placements at most of the business schools (B-schools) in India have seen an upward trend this year.
