About GCET 2018

The Gujarat Technological University (GTU) will be conducting the Gujarat common entrance test (GCET)-2018. The test is conducted for admissions to Masters of business Administration (MBA) and Masters of Computer Applications (MCA).The competitive exam is conducted for admissions to the courses offered by colleges and institutes affiliated to the university. After the exam, a merit list will be prepared and students will be shortlisted for counselling.

Eligibility Criteria for GCET 2018

  • Candidate must have passed graduation from one the Universities located in Gujarat.
  • Candidate must have graduated with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.
  • Candidates who are in their final year of graduation are also eligible for the test. There is neither an age limit nor an attempt limit.

How to Apply for GCET 2018

  • Candidates need to visit the website of the university at http://www.gtu.ac.in for online registration. Candidates should download the Fee Challan form from the website and get its printout.
  • Candidates are required to make payment for the fees using the printed Challan Form at the designated branches of the bank mentioned on the university website.
  • University has set up various help centers for the exam and the copy of the challan should be given to any of these help centers.
  • The candidate can get the brochure cover for MBA/MCA & MBC (i.e. MBA & MCA)containing User ID, PASSWORD/PIN by paying Rs. 1000/- in cash from the branches of Punjab
  • GCET Exam is normally held in the month of May 2018
  • The candidates belonging to SC/ST category will be refunded the differential amount of Rs. 250/- for MBA/MCA & MBC by G.T.U. on confirmation of their category by competent authority.

  • This section carries 100 questions in total.
  • The total time duration for this section is 80 Minutes.
  • This section is divided into 4 parts, namely English Language Skill, Quantitative Aptitude ,General Awarness and Analytic and Logical Reasoning

  • For each right answer, a candidate will get 4 marks.
  • For each wrong answer 1 mark will be deducted.

Eligibility Criteria for 2018

Every year GCET entrance exam is conducted by Gujarat Technological University and students seeking admission to Masters of Business Admission (MBA) and Masters of Computer Applications (MCA) in the state of Gujarat must have to apply for the Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GCET). The GCET entrance exam is held for admissions to courses offered by affiliated colleges and institutes. Students will have to appear for an examination, following which a merit list will be announced for the shortlisted candidates. Before applying for the GCET entrance exam, candidates must fulfill the below mentioned eligibility criteria so as to be eligible for GCET exam.

Eligibility criteria for GCET 2018:

The GCET MBA and GCET MCA eligibility criteria of the students who would intend to get admission through GCET 2018 are as mentioned here:

  • A candidate graduated from a recognized university and located in Gujarat State are eligible to appear GCET 2018.
  • Students who have graduated in a 3-year program from a university outside Gujarat State but have passed Std. XII or its equivalent examination from a recognized school located in Gujarat State are eligible for GCET 2018.
  • Students must have scored a minimum of 50% marks in graduation.
  • In case of SC/ST students, 5% relaxation is given as per rules. 50% (45% in case of SC/ST students) will be computed on the basis of grand total (aggregate) in final year mark sheet issued by the concerned University. The minimum marks of 50% or 45% given above should be without rounding off and grace marks will be excluded for the purpose.
  • A student who has appeared at the final year (Bachelor’s Degree) examination of any university recognized by the Association of Indian Universities.
  • Non-resident Gujarati students passing the qualifying examination from States other than Gujarat and Gujarati-NRI students shall be eligible for admission to management quota of private unaided institutes only.
  • Non-resident Gujarati students will have to produce documents such as school leaving certificate or birth certificate or passport of one of the parents to prove that the parent was born in Gujarat OR a domicile certificate from Gujarat in the name of father, mother or the applicant at the time of application. If the state Government stipulates production of any other document/s, the same shall have to be done.
  • Gujarati-NRI students will be NRI students as per the Income-tax Act. Further the will be Gujarati students also and will have to produce documents as specified in above.
  • Students applying against Non-resident Gujarati and NRI quota also will have to have 50% marks in aggregate in graduation.
  • The wards of Kashmiri Migrants fulfilling the eligibility conditions c. and d. above may also apply. The domicile requirements as specified in a. and b. above will be waived.
  • If the graduation result is in the form of grade, then an equivalence certificate showing that the student has obtained 50% marks should be produced at the time of application.

How to Apply

The Gujarat Common entrance test (GCET) 2018 is conducted by the Gujarat Technological University (GTU) for admissions to the courses mentioned above, offered by colleges affiliated to the university. Students who have completed their graduation from universities in Gujarat and looking to pursue their education in courses such as Masters of business administration (MBA) and Masters of Computer applications (MCA) must have to appear the GCET 2018 and get qualified as well.

Students can apply for either or both the programs, and will accordingly have to appear for the concerned test. After the test, a merit list will be prepared. Based on performance in the exam, candidates will be shortlisted for admission. Below we have mentioned the application procedure for GCET 2018.

How to Apply for GCET 2018

  • Visit the site to print the Fee Challan link given on the registration website and go to any of the help centreshttp://www.gtu.ac.in for online registration. Candidates should download the Fee Challan form from the website and get its printout.
  • Bank counter (List given below) will accept challan and fee there. By giving one stamped copy of the fee challan, candidate can get information brochure issued from the help centre, which comes with User - ID and Password.
  • With the allotted User-ID and password complete the application form on the website.www.gtu.ac.in. If a candidate is having difficulty to register online on his/her own, he/she can send an email to gcet@gtu.ac.in or contact the Central Control Room at GTU, Ahmedabad.
  • Candidate has to report to the nearest Help Centre along with duly signed application form, acknowledgement slip and Photostat copy of required documents (Final Year Degree mark sheet, H.S.C examination mark sheet, S.S.C mark sheet) to get the registration acknowledgement slip.

The state level entrance examination is conducted for students who have completed their graduation in Gujarat, and plan to pursue higher education in the state. The exam is conducted for admission to Masters of business administration (MBA) and Masters of computer applications (MCA).

Students will have to appear for an examination, following which a merit list will be announced for the shortlisted candidates. Instead of writing on paper, students will have to appear for this exam by online mode.
