Till now state students seeking admission to IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology) were required to take GCET as well as the IITJEE to check if one is eligible for anyone or both. The state will follow the same system for 2013 admissions, but from 2014 onwards, Goan students will have to take the common entrance test to know if they are eligible for IITs and state seats at the same time.
Deferring the new pattern by one year will help students to prepare for the test in that duration.
